Where to get Japanese kitchenware: Kappabashi! A look round Tokyo’s Kitchen Town at an amazing variety of stores selling Japanese knives, ceramics, plates, bowls and all kinds of utensils.
Even if you’re not into cooking, Kappabashi’s an interesting place to look round. The variety is amazing. There’s so much beautiful tableware, chopsticks, bento boxes, and functional food preparation gadgets, pots and pans. If you can think of any specialist item for making Japanese food, it’ll be here somewhere. You can find Kitchen Street in north-east central Tokyo, between Ueno and Asakusa – it’s an easy walk from Senso-ji, the famous temple. At the end of the video there’s also a look a similar place in Osaka called Sennichimae Doguyasuji.

Visited Kappabashi twice last week. A street of temptation alright. We found much to take home with us.
Lucky enough to listen in to a chat in one of the knife shops. Buyer from Europe looking for a particular tool. Fascinating.
Cliché time. A street that has something for everyone. 😉
Good vid girl, would love to have a very nice set of Japanese kitchen knives, when are you going back home to the U K? thanks.
Thank you for this video I enjoyed very much since I love kitchenware. So I try to visit this street whenever I visit Tokyo. It may be a good idea to check over in your future video the statue of Kappa the imaginary creature, honouring him for saving the community in this neighborhood. In Japan, depending on the item, it is common for shops to display it to allow you to feel and check freely, and to sell you a good and fresh copy from the stock.
You have/had a Nero figure
How you feel about him now?
Your videos have been a massive help for planning my trip that I'm starting a in a few weeks time. This one solved the issue of trying to find where to get exactly the same item from.
5:55 もし店頭現品が売れたら、主人は同じように倉庫から新品を出してきて店頭に置くだろう。ならば、その新品を客に渡したほうが良いではないか。これが考え方なんだけど、西洋じゃ稀なんかねぇ?
After sightseeing Sensouji temple, but not so interesting because the street mainly for a Japanese cook.
Definitely checking this out next month! BTW, we're confused. If we're visiting 1 day in Osaka and two days in Kyoto, do you suggest for us to get a pass? If so, which pass? We'll be visiting the must visits spots there. We're confused if it's better to just use IC cards or buy one of the passes for tourists.
Fun fact: The correct term for "fake food" models is actually "sample food". If one want to be "correct". 🙂
Just one question Amy , I’m going Tokyo in June as you know. Where do I find a post box where I can post my pocket WiFi in akihabara?
When i didnt think i could like you guys anymore than i already do and you mention RBF ♥️♥️♥️ yesssss!!!!!
nice video again!!!!!!!!!please can you made a video about jinbo-cho?????i love bookstore!!!!!!!!!thank you!!!!
Thank you for your sharing Kappabashi video❗️
I'm dad who loves cooking, and so I like to walk around Kappabashi🍽️🥢🔪
I really waanna get a well‐cutting kitchen knife, but it's little bit expensive for me haha~
Very good video, so that I turned off the adblock and thanks fucking god, most of the videos have subtitles.
Amazing.
I really like your voice and accent, I want to learn English from you.
..the shop where a Reel Big Fish song is playing, seems like they sell vintage collectibles from Coca-Cola etc..
Would be awesome if you could put google map pin drops on your descriptions!! Please
Hope they are made in Japan and not China … nothing against China but I just wanted to buy what they produced and not imports
how do you pronounce Asakusa? I've heard two different versions: A-SA-KOO-SA and A-SUCK-SA – are they both correct? If so, what is the difference?
I want to buy a knive when I go to JAPAN. Do you think it will be confiscated at the airport?
hmmm,… I really don't understand why almost all images of kappa are cute. They are actually quite evil and said to molest women bathing in streams and drown children. For some weird reason they love eating cucumbers, hence " kappa-maki " (^_^)
I'm going to Tokyo soon and this video is so helpful! Makes a change from all the skin care/Harajuku fashion/candy floss vids I keep watching (I want skin care too but the amount of videos is overkill showing the same things). Thanks for making this video :0)
OMG I saw kitty cat wooden sporks.
You have standing orders to pick me one up lol
I’ve never heard of this town. I love learning how to make bowls of ramen.
Is there a website can buy online for knifes? Pls.
AWESOME VIDEO VERY HELPFUL!!!!!!! NEXT TIME CAN YOU SHOW US A CAKE DECORATING SUPPLY STORE!!!!!!
Thank you for a great watch! I'm a keen Japanese cookware collector from Nottingham UK, and I'd love to visit here so much. I visited the Doki shop several times when it was in Wembley, and once to it's new location. It sells amazing Japanese crockery and some cookware. Japan Centre also sells some cookware. I have mainly got my cookware from Amazon and E Bay. The only thing is the customs tax that you have to watch out for. In NYC Korin is an excellent shop, but again it's all the taxes to get your items.
Shaun:)
