A Japanese breakfast tradition that is said to have originated in Nagoya, “morning service” is a special deal where customers can enjoy a free breakfast with the order of a drink. (They say the early bird gets the worm for a reason.)
Here, Shizuka visits 3 coffee shops offering their own unique take on the morning service, starting with Komeda’s Coffee, a chain that first opened in Nagoya in 1968. For the price of a cup of coffee, Shizuka gets the classic toasted shokupan (Japanese milk bread) with egg salad and butter; and tries another menu item–Komeda’s danish (called Shiro-noir)!
Next up is Hanagoyomi, which offers a more traditionally Japanese morning set that comes with onigiri or rice porridge (or toast, for a more Western-style option) and a side of salad and chawanmushi (savory egg custard). The typical coffee can also be swapped out for matcha.
Lastly, Kissa Morning serves the iconic Nagoya Ogura toast, which is made with sweetened red beans on a thick slice of toasted shokupan. Their cute mascot, Yudetama-kozo (Hard-boiled Egg Boy) is a supernatural being that’s said to live in the building, keeping guard against food waste!

I love this channel
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
Shizuka-sama's voice is like the rustling of a silk kimono. Soft and kissed by the whisper of Kami no Kane.
Amazing video 😀
I just love watching your content every morning! And today you had a Breakfast theme today wow, thank you so much for another video. God bless you all abundantly and hope you all have a great day ahead 😊👍✨
Good Morning Japan
Love shokupan with egg or tuna mayo…normally I will get it from Daily Yamazaki…. The famous 7-11 egg sandwich taste a bit too buttery rich for me
Komeda breakfast is famous but lunch menus are also wild. You get so much food for reasonable price you’ll need to take long nap afterwards.
Miso Katsu sandwich is famous there you must give it a try.😊
Fluffy is the word of the day 😊 these breakfasts look very nice considering they came free with a beverage.
I look forward to seeing Shizuka’s videos every Sunday 😊 very interesting and informative.
Shizuka looking good everyday! Can't wait to go to Japan again
If it's free, then it's for me! Lol. These videos got me thinking about moving to Japan. Cheers, ya'll!
Shizuka's demeanour definitely brings the show to another level. Her enthusiasm is absolutely catching and adorable, not to mention that she has the face and voice of an angel to go with it.
Hi Shizuka Anderson. Hi Japan by food. 😊🍻🍺
It's less that the breakfast is free and more that the coffee is overpriced.
The second place though! Matcha and chaeanmushi!?! Sold!❤
Great video. How do these restaurants stay in business with those fantastic deals?
It's supposed to be a soft boiled egg.
You dip your toast into it.
Always a Great Channel!
i’ve cream for breakfast? i’m so there!
PS i love Shizuka more than having three breakfasts in a day 🤣😍
fairly light and practically free food… better on the waistline and wallet even if you pay for options … the Nagoya breakfast is reminds me of European continental, coffee and simple accompanyment compared to English full breakfast or American breakfast
never been to japan, but that should have been a soft boiled egg in that style of cup
That Danish looked so good and that last set made me really want to try red bean paste with butter on toast. Sounds like it would be absolutely delightful!
Shizuka thats a mid-high range coffee shop 😁. Can you feature a low-mid range coffee shop/restaurant fit for budget meals (student approved) but not a fastfood chain? Thanks
Japanese toast bread is not just any bread. It equates to specialty bakery bread in the US and not your typical American sandwich or toast bread…
Haha Shizuka cutting with the knife upside down at 8:30.
Shizukaaaaaaa
I'm happy they have this, I would definitely get up early to try, or just go to Kissa Morning if I slept in hahah, I learned a lot and enjoying it too, thank you! 😊
Breakfast is one of the most important parts of the day – and now you're making me believe you are! That is so good to know that you care for me on that and the bread looks so delicious. Thank you so much! With love.
Ice cream for breakfast! Count me in any day!
Welcome to Nagoya! I see you really enjoyed the Breakfast Culture! I'm so happy!
