Florence is the top place that we wanted to visit in Italy. The art, culture, and wine was everything we hoped for and more. We got to see Michelangelo’s David, visit the Medici Palace, climb to the top of Brunelleschi’s Dome, explore the crypts of the cathedral, eat gelato and pasta, and finally go on a wine tour. While on our wine tour we met two couples from the UK and got rooftop drinks with them. It was so much fun and i got to try an Aperol spritz for the first time!

*⚠️our tours were mostly booked through “Get Your Guide” and they were very hit or miss. Tour information on their site is outdated, which was super frustrating. The tours are cheap so I guess you get what you pay for*

*🚩I will not be providing a link to our airbnb because after we checked out our host was an absolute nightmare. He rudely kept pressuring us to leave early. He also tried to give us a poor review for using two towels that were in an unlocked cabinet (with no sign saying we couldn’t use them). The worst airbnb experience we’ve ever had so we do NOT recommend that anyone stay at his place.*

For visiting the Medici Palace we recommend contacting the Palace directly and booking in advance. We saw people get turned away at the door for not booking a ticket in advance. http://www.palazzomediciriccardi.it/en/prenotazioni-pubblico/

Hi! I’m Abbie, a bookworm and cat lady. My husband (Jeff) and I got rid of everything we own (except my books lol) and left sunny California (with our quirky cat Tedward) for gray skies in England. On this channel you’ll find bookish (hauls, reviews) and travel (vlogs, tips, expat life) content!

  1. It's such a beautiful city, glad you were able to visit.

I've enjoyed your Salisbury vlogs. Interesting to get a perspective from someone from our former colony across the Atlantic to my home nation. Sorry about the visa situation, but enjoy your remaining time here this Fall.

  2. lovely video. Just got back from Florence and Bologna on Saturday. Spent four nights in Florence and it was about the tenth time we have been since 1986 and we still have not managed to see everything yet!!
