Porridge in a box! Singapore Airlines, Boeing 737, Singapore to Siem Reap in Economy class.
Lovely breakfast!! We flew on Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Siem Reap. I had a window seat in Row 43. Prior to the flight, we spent some time at the Krisflyer Gold lounge –

The flight was full! Most of the passengers were not Singaporeans. There were a good number of Caucasians as well as citizens of other Asian and ASEAN countries.

The plane used was a narrow-body Boeing 737, in Singapore Airlines livery. I cannot remember the last time, if ever, I flew on a Singapore Airlines Boeing 737. Not too long ago, the short-haul flights were all operated by SilkAir. But SilkAir has since merged with SIA, and SilkAir has ceased to exist.

Boarding was smooth and pushback was on time. Flight time was 1 hour 50 minutes, which is really a short regional flight. I was told that breakfast would be served on board, and I was most curious to see what we get on regional flights operated by SQ!

The takeoff allowed me to get a beautiful view of Changi Airport. The plane took off towards the south-west, made a sharp left turn to the north. Managed to catch Singapore Changi Airport and her three runways from the air. It was a gorgeous day!

The meal service started very soon after takeoff. We would get hot food! Breakfast was a choice between:
1. Scrambled Eggs with Chicken Sausage (Sauteed spinach, tomato sauce)
2. Pork Congee with Century Egg (Pork Meatballs with dried sole fish)

There was yogurt and coffee/tea.

I chose the Pork Congee. It was great! There were chunky pieces of meat, and even some fried dough stick pieces. It tasted really good. Yum yums.

The IFE system on this Boeing 737 looked to be pretty new. It was a touchscreen. All the movies on Krisworld were available for viewing. There was also live TV, which was nice. BBC was one of the options available on Live TV.

Take note, there was just one USB A slot for charging your electronic devices. There was no USB-C slot, neither was there a universal power socket. So if you need to charge your mobile phone on board, do remember to bring a USB-A cable.

The flight to Siem Reap was smooth. On the way, we flew over Phnom Penh. The descent into Siem Reap was smooth. Fascinating to watch the scenery from the plane on this sunny day. The land below looked very undeveloped. I was reminded that Cambodia was still a very developing country. She has about 17 million people. Her GDP per capita was about USD $1,800 (2022), which is fairly low even by ASEAN standards. By comparison, Vietnam has almost 100 million population and her GDP per capita is about double that of Cambodia.

This would be a very interesting visit to Siem Reap, Cambodia. We were here to see the Angkor Wat. It should be a most interesting visit.

  1. I love it that SQ serves our local favourites on board ❤️ I didn’t see the business class cabin on your video. Were they the new lie-flat seats?
