Hachioji Station is located in Asahi-cho, Hachioji City, Tokyo.
It is a station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight).
It is the only core city in Tokyo and the central station of Hachioji City, which has the largest population in the Tama area, and one of the terminal stations in the Tama area.
The Chuo Line connects the eastern part of the Tama area, the wards of Tokyo such as Shinjuku Station and Tokyo Station, and the Koshin area.
Limited express trains such as “Kaiji”, “Azusa”, “Fuji Excursion” and “Hachioji” all stop here.
In addition, Keio Hachioji Station on the Keio Electric Railway is about a 5-minute walk away, and commuter pass transportation is available.
The area around the station is the central urban area of Hachioji City.
Along with Kichijoji, Tachikawa, and Machida, it is one of the representative commercial districts of the Tama area, and the downtown area spreads out around the north exit.
In particular, the West Radiation Street shopping street (commonly known as U-Road) is a pedestrian-only road with a concentration of restaurants and other establishments, so it is especially crowded with many people.
八王子駅（はちおうじえき）は、東京都八王子市旭町にある。
東日本旅客鉄道（JR東日本）・日本貨物鉄道（JR貨物）の駅である。
東京都唯一の中核市であり、多摩地域最大の人口を擁する八王子市の中心駅であり多摩地域にあるターミナル駅の一つ。
中央線で多摩地域東部や新宿駅や東京駅といった東京都区部や甲信地方等と、横浜線で神奈川県内と、八高線経由で多摩地域北部や埼玉県西部等と結ばれている。
「かいじ」「あずさ」「富士回遊」「はちおうじ」などの特急列車も全て停車する。
また、京王電鉄の京王八王子駅が徒歩5分ほどの距離にあり、定期券での連絡運輸が設定されている。
駅周辺は八王子市の中心市街地である。
吉祥寺・立川・町田などと並び多摩地域を代表する商業地域の1つであり、北口を中心に繁華街が広がっている。
特に西放射線通り商店街（通称：ユーロード）は歩行者専用道路で飲食店などが集積しているため、人通りも多く特に賑わっている。
