I re-watched the episode and it's okay that Thomas had a different experience. This is a challenging environment, and he's responsible for Sierra. The real world meets Adventure Archives. I loved this episode so much. #resiliency 2.0 "What we do have control over is how we grow as a person"
Anyone else with 4k unavailable?
i love seeing sierra on hikes 😭😭 she’s so cute and i want to pet her so bad!!
Thanks for sharing! Awesome trip and video.
hahaha I laughed so hard when Thomas responded with such incredulity! Totally understand that in the moment emotions come up & I think you all have such great chemistry to know where the borders are with each other ("I'm not going to argue with you guys"). Personally I relate on many fronts with Thomas, especially the part about enjoying time alone and away from friends after being socialized out. It's refreshing to see such relatable raw emotion on the internet, something I think doesn't get shown enough. Another incredible episode – this series is probably my favorite so far.
Thomas and Sierra are AWESOME
This video brings me way back to when I was 16 standing on that very Beach I'm 61 now thank you
Random thought but I think it would be a great Patreon exclusive content option to have a Sierra Cam. I'd love to see some of the trails from her point of view. Seeing her happily galavanting on the beach makes me sooo happy. My senior dog can no longer zoom around (outside of her dreams) but I'm sure she'd love to sun bathe with those seal lol
“So impractical!” I mean, think about why they had to be there? Maybe today it seems impractical but keep seeking out the learning here.
This was all filmed going south, so you did the hike going north then filmed it on the return to your cars.
I live by the ocean. It is basically a 20 minute drive for me to get to one of about 20 different beaches. I never even considered people didnt understand the beach until seeing your videos and it kind of blows my mind.
Sierra is so cute😍🤩
In my top 3 of your videos my only complaint is that it actually made me anxious not to see you guys do the usual morning coffee routine before starting your day. LOL
love all of you! thank you! Sierra <3
Having hiked the Lost Coast myself, it was so exciting to see Adventure Archives apply their talent and style to one of the country's most unique hikes. Superbly narrated, wonderfully filmed to create a true masterpiece. California has SO much to offer in spectacular scenery both in the Sierras and on the coast. Please come and do more expeditions here (Kings Canyon, John Muir Wilderness, Ansel Adams wilderness to name but a few). Happy to help you with the logistics. Well done!
That's what the beaches in Venezuela looked like, except it was cacti and desert grasses in the background instead of grassy hills. We went horseback riding down the beach. Edit: And I grew up right next to the ocean so it doesn't captivate me as much. The Maine coast is pretty wild and remote. It's nice to get off the beaten path sometimes.
Thomas takes excellent care of Sierra and bigger dogs are a challenge. My Hungarian Vizsla is a handful and he's tame for a male of the species.
Awesome to see you guys in my home range. I was born and raised in Humboldt county. And FYI it’s pronounced. Mu tole. Thanks!
Be careful with peas ! Sweet Peas are toxic (liver I think) you need to eat a bunch but it's best not to eat any .
I loved this video! I felt like you invited me on this trip with you while I peeled six gallons of peaches to freeze. I loved how curious and observant you all are and showing me what you saw and found! I am just the same way when I go on adventures. So pleasant music, laughing, etc while I did the best peach harvest ever. Thankyou
The Long Coast Trail.
I was looking for a movie to watch and came across this video. It's every bit as interesting and compelling as a good movie, and won't leave me with nightmares. Thank you.
Some beautiful captures of Coast, ocean and land creatures.. Thanks for soothing narration replete with biological, botanical info and your repartee humor. You never tire carrying that long tripod. A dog on a hike adds a special dimension, for their enthusiasm and observations (olfactory and be auditory) that we might miss . Your human meals are a true wonder… Thanks for an excellent trip
I don't understand are you so cheap you couldn't bring enough food or why couldn't you fish or something? this makes no sense…Maybe this is a inside joke
You guys backpacked in my area and I didn't even know it?!?
Have you guys ever considered hiking/camping so,ehwere in Canada? B.C. maybe??
how do u guys not have a million subs yet!!!
Great vid, although to long. More so for YouTube
Thank you so much for all your adventures!
i really wanna see u guys talk about creepy experience while hiking during this upcoming Halloween
I thought this was about Polihale State Park. It is a remote wild beach on the western side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It is the most western publicly accessible area in Hawaii. Very remote, right next to the Na Pali Coast. Stunning.
The little edible succulent plant you mentioned at 8:22 is native to the east coast of Australia. Its common name is native pigface, Carpobrotus rossii. The small fruit are quite sweet which is sort of counter-intuitive given the harsh environment in which it thrives. They help to stabilise the sand dunes along with several grasses along our coasts.
Thanks guys. Great vid. A little sent of "Stand by Me" in there, and your sand people impersonation was spot on! My only criticism is, a little less voice over, let nature speak for itself. Awesome. Glad you shared this with the world.
Thank you gentlemen for the ocean! The black sand was a joy to see!!
Did any of you get poison oak? I got it really bad when hitting up those overland trails.
Best use a portable electric fence when camping bear country. 2.4 lbs for a good night’s sleep
Nice chick flick, pungent, misty clouds settling in the foothills.
Sierra is such a good dog 😭
now i dont know how great the fishing is along this part of the coast, but with telescopic fishing rod you can forge for fish. fishing is prob one of the most passed up survival skills people dont consider. i would have definitely tried to have fished since day 1.
California is a massive, beautiful and diverse environment. Aside from the socialist, metropolis hellscapes, of course. People all over the country kind of give California a bad rap because of it's cities, which is completely misguided. If you like traveling, hiking and camping, I highly suggest giving Cali a try.
Have you guys heard of Dick Proenneke? (If not) he built a cabin etc in Alaska alone and filmed it all. He's gotta be right up there with Thoreau just not quite so famous.
I'm wondering why Thomas bothers going on these trips-he's grumpy!
Great video the scenery was quite stunning and there were so many fascinating finds, I'd definitely take a trip there. I was amazed at how u all quickly forgot about the snake and moved on I would probably stress out about running into another one the rest of the trip.
Ever since becoming a dad back in 2020, and now a dad of two since 5 weeks ago, I've yet to have set foot on a trail… your videos sort of scratch that itch to be out on the trail. For this, I am grateful.
Hi ya all. I've lived in Shelter Cove for 30 years and never done the Lost Coast Hike. So thank you for sharing your trip. I got some real gems from your incite on life. Peace!
So you only hiked the northern half of the trail
