The worst drivers are in Greece. I know it for sure and I never visit another country!
With an open vehicle, like a motorcycle, i have the look and feel, that I am really there.
With a closed one, like a car, it looks not so real, more like cinema.
But also bad, in bad weather. You feel hot, cold, rain, dust, snow, or whatever.
I want to try a scooter for travelling, instead of my motorcycle.
It´s a challenge, how possible with this small, cheap and simple vehicle.
It´s a Yamaha Scooter, 125 cc, 4-stroke engine – and costs $ 100,- only.
But first I need to fix it. No big deal.
And spare parts are easy and cheap. If you need, because this scooter is very reliable.
You find a lot in Europe, because it´s made in 1997 …….. in France by MBK.
So it´s the same as the Modell MBK Flame.
And many parts are not special, you can use also from other vehicles.
Con´s: Nine PS / HP only – but I am a single driver.
Front and back: Drum brakes only, so drive more carefully.
CVT automatic – a manual shifted gear box is more reliable.
Pro: The four stroke engine = needs less petrol, (2-3 liters/100 km.)
and no two stroke oil.
I can fix all. I can weld, too.
I fixed also broken engines, on tour. On cars and motorcycles.
45 years experiences riding motorcycles.
Greetings from sw germany (middle europe)
I take a rubber bottle with me. (wrapped with textile or wool.)
Fill it, with boiled water, close it, and put on you, or in your sleeping bag.
It gives you very warm.
A comfortable pillow is important too, for having a good and relaxed sleep.
And if its a spare sweater only.
I like to have good tasted coffee. So mostly I avoid instant coffee.
ie cooking with a stainless steel coffee maker, like a Biletta.
Good meals are important, to have fun on your trip.
You can cook simple meals with normal food. You don´t need specials.
Spicies are important. And ketchup, if you can get it.
If it tastes bad, it´s your fault.
Use a small pan, it´s easy and universal.
I have a small gas heater with me. Not for tent heating, because it can be dangerous.
But to dry your clothes and gear.
And warm you up, in the moment. So you don´t need an open fire for it. And quicker release.
Running with the same screw in gas canisters, as my two flame gas stove.
Where I buy it cheaper on a store for garden tools. And filled with propane/butane mix, who works also at cold temperatures.
But the cheapest are the bajonett gas canisters, worldwide.
My foldable two flame gas stove I have customized it for very universal.
I can use near all gas systems. And can make adapters on tour, if needed.
Two flames = Meal and coffee ready same time.
I have bought a pop up iglu tent. Setup in fife minutes only, or less.
I add a tarp, to get a large vestibule, in front of the tent.
I use my tarp also for a quick rain shelter.
just park my scooter savely, mout a middle pole between my windshield and my luggage.
And put the tarp around it. Be safe, not near the hot exhaust, or sharp edges.
So you can wait under the tarp, until rain ends. Near like a tent.
Great guys!!!! Wonderful way to spend an hour.
What a great q n a there people’s,all the best stay safe and sunny side up 🍷🍷👍👍
Great Q&A, thanks so much for taking the time to do this and especially the extra effort to do it in English! Its great to hear about your budgeting and experiences to give other more confidence to travel
Thanks to you two, I get to know the world better (from the comfort of my couch). Thanks for that.
I forgot I asked that question. Lol. 😅
Some very good questions there and I didn't realise that you met each other on your travels.
You certainly have quite a few spare parts.
I agree about the so called biking brotherhood. I have stopped on my bike at some biker cafes and was totally ignored when I asked questions about their bikes.
Do you ever see yourselves back in Greece living in a house or is travelling on the road a long term plan? I should have asked that question.
Stay safe guys and thanks for doing this for us in English.
