This year we caught the start of the wisteria bloom at Ashikaga Flower Park. The large flower park is famous for its wisteria.

Almost a year ago my wife and I went to Ashikaga for the first time. Along with the historical sites, we visited the Ashikaga flower park. At that time the roses were in bloom. This time we came for the wisteria

This time we came at the start of the bloom on a Monday. We wanted to avoid the weekend crowds and it was the best weekday for us to go as I did not have work. So three trains later we were in Ashikaga.

The park has multiple old trees that had to be carefully transported to their new location in the park. In addition younger wisteria trees and tunnels that the vines grew around dot the park.

Due to the popularity of the anime Demon Slayer wisteria is more popular than ever in Japan. The Ashikaga flower park is open year-round and the price of admission changes depending on the season and the flowers’ bloom. Tickets, when we went, were 1500 yen each. Not the highest of the year, but almost up to the 1700 it maxes out at.

Ashikaga Flower Park station is a few steps away from Oyama station, a major station. Ashikaga Flower Park is a popular day trip from Tokyo due to the ease of reaching it.
