The Yoshida side is a tributary of Arakawa. We will walk through the mountain villages facing the valley along the Akuma and Isama rivers, which are tributaries of the Yoshida river. Although it may be more appropriate to call the Kanto Mountains a hilly area, settlements are formed on the sunny slopes of the hillside away from the valley bottom.
The characteristic of each mountain village is that the roof lines of the main building and the annex are lined up parallel to the contour lines. In particular, it is a highlight of the stone walls and storehouses where the round stones collected in the river are piled up. In each of the villages, we can see Mt. Buko in the distance, which has a strange appearance carved by limestone mining.
