Battleship North Carolina & Touring Downtown Wilmington, NC

Stuart and Missy had a great day touring Wilmington, NC. First, we stopped at USS North Carolina (Battleship North Carolina).

The USS North Carolina (BB-55) is a fast battleship of the United States Navy. The lead ship of her class, she was laid down in 1937 and completed in April 1941. North Carolina was the first American battleship commissioned after the Washington Naval Treaty and was armed with nine 16-inch (406 mm) guns. She served in World War II as a Fast Carrier Task Force member, participating in actions in the Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, Mariana and Palau Islands, Leyte Gulf, and Okinawa. After the war, she was decommissioned and placed in reserve.

After we toured Battleship North Carolina, we headed over to Downtown Wilmington. We met Lior, the owner of The Cigar Exchange, and he showed us his wall of fame, where many Hollywood stars, sports legends, and others have enjoyed a great smoke.

After handing at The Cigar Exchange, we stopped at Bourbon Street, a New Orleans-themed themed restaurant, we enjoyed some fine NOLA-style cuisine. Check out their website at https://bourbonstreetilm.com/.

  1. Interesting trip. I've ate at that same Waffle House more than I care to admit lately as almost nothing else is open when I get off work. I actually didn't know any of this was in Wilmington. I may go check out the battleship, but I'll wait for it to cool down some more first. lol
