Profile

I was born in December 1966 to parents who run a small sushi restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo.
I’ve been seeing my father’s work up close since my childhood, and my dream was in the elementary school,
“Becoming a sushi chef”.
After I graduated from high school, I got a job at a sushi restaurant in Tokyo. This is how I entered the culinary world.
I’ve worked in a small restaurant run by my father, another sushi restaurant, and a popular izakaya restaurant, for about 30 years.

And Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market, etc. Then I was appointed as an official cook in the Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia in January 2018,

for three years, I presented my dishes to dignitaries from every country, Saudi government officials, and members of the Saudi royal family.

My stay in Saudi Arabia for three years made me want to introduce information about Japanese food and Japanese culture to people in the Middle East,
So I decided to create this “Yochan’s Kitchen” account.
