We have always been about doing things a little differently. When our founder, Arinobu Fukuhara threw open the doors and welcomed the first customers into his #Ginza district pharmacy, it signaled the beginning of a company that would change the beauty landscape. It was #1872, and we had just introduced Japan to its first Western-style pharmacy. And that’s not the only first.
We also created the first original Shiseido font, which remains a unique symbol of our corporate identity and relentless quest for perfection, beauty and elegance. This special font is still widely used across our packaging and advertisements today. It has been carefully passed down over the generations, and designers in the Shiseido Creative Division can write the Shiseido typeface by hand.
