Japan is to review Entry requirements including potentially lifting the entry cap and the current visa rules hopefully allowing individual travel in the NEAR FUTURE.
Many news outlets have started reporting that Japan is Considering lifting the limit on the number of people entering Japan, by October!
Currently 50,000 people can enter Japan daily, however, The government will discuss to REMOVE the upper limit on the number of people entering the country daily! Something that I have stated multiple times is KEY for visa reciprocity to come into place!
Japan will also CONSIDER lifting the ban on accepting individual tourists and exempting visas for short-term stays.
This is the wording from the Japanese Translation! So, the government is currently REVIEWING of the process. Some English Translations refer to “simultaneously relaxing restrictions including visa requirements and the requirement to travel on a package tours.” However, Japanese media reports both the removal of the entry cap and the lifting of visa requirements as two different considerations. So we must bare this in mind!
This is certainly an area we will all be looking at closely!

I booked Disney World for November instead and am now aiming for Cherry Blossoms in the spring for Japan. Even the self-guided tours are too much money and way too much hand holding for me. I hope they get everything figured out for March/April travel.
