I truly hope you find these videos informative and helpful, especially if it’s your first time to Cambodia. It had been 4 years since my last visit and it doesn’t appear to have changed much as far as the bag snatching goes. I was warned several times as I was walking around filming to be careful of my stuff. If this video helps one person avoid the loss of their personal items I will feel putting this one together was well worth it! Everything else in the video is pretty straightforward. I really enjoy interacting with the Khmer, there are so easy going, warm, and friendly. The culture is one of the richest most interesting in the region and I will definitely be sharing more of it along with other helpful videos on Kampot, Siem Reap and other destinations within the country in the future. The stories of people posing in bathing suits and naked at cultural sites and temples like Angkor are quite disturbing to me. I really don’t care if people want to pose naked or almost naked at their hotel swimming pool but to do this in places of worship and that are extremely sacred to the local people is completely selfish and insensitive to the culture. I hope those that visit make an extra effort to follow some of the local customs and show respect to Khmers, above all be gracious and humble. They really do appreciate the effort! Thanks again for watching! FYI-The tshirt meaning in the thumbnail is a Khmer saying. “When you are angry you lose everything”! Couldn’t agree more!!!

Loved the video fella great information too.I'm visiting this country this year. Thanks once again
I live in Phnom Penh. For the most part, yes this video is pretty good. But the security concerns, whilst being true, sound a little scary. Like don't walk the streets at night? I fell safer on these streets that I do in any western city I've been to. On the money thing, yes tears are bad, I get stuck with one occasionally. Also important, is to not carry notes larger than a 20. Every time you get the chance, break those friggin awful hundreds. Get some amount ending in 90 out of the auto teller to start with. You can't spend notes bigger than a 20, in many places.
Well, whatever: Keep on truckin folks : )
I was here in 2017. I was bothered by the double pricing in the city and it took up a lot of energy. This is not mentioned in the video. Thanks anyway for a good video.
I've been working between Cambodia and Vietnam since 1999 & you hit all the key points,.. except one. Many expats like to rent 250 cc motorcycles (and above) to get around, which I've done myself for many years. If you do this, always make sure to have a good supply of $1.00 bills with you.
If you are stopped by the police in PNH for anything; the main thing they want is a pay-off. Don't argue with them and don't make a scene as more police will come (who also want payoffs). They are happy with just a $1-2 dollar "Tip",.. but they don't give change if you only have $20's or a $50's!
Great points – ty
Beautiful piece of film art. 👏🏻😊
notice: if you have left a lot of Cambodian Riel, no other country around will change it, so get rid of it as long you are in Cam
been to PP twice now, never had problems with safety, but yeah be smart, but don't be paranoid, walked home several times drunk in the red light district, no problems, white man overpricing you cannot avoid, accept it and smile.
Nice video ….good tips for Cambodia trip
Great Advices! We love Khmer culture and the Kingdom of Cambodia. Thanks you for sharing this video!😀
Nice production, John! I especially liked the closing words and the clip of the boy running through the birds in slow-motion with the serene soundtrack.
Thanks for the video, I lived in PP a few years. I actually never had anything stolen in 4 years, so it's not that bad but better be careful. Regarding the $ notes in PP nowadays you don't need to have a fresh out of the bank notes, they will take any dollar notes. But not in the countryside they still want almost perfect notes. Best.
his advice is only a part of his experience but i am thankfull to watch the video and be reminded of my time spent in phnom penh
Great practical advice and no waffle, a good video.
Thank you sir! Cambodia love you
thank you for sharing your video. how long are you staying in Cambodia? i have mango farm in Kampot so if you come that wäy visit our farm.
great city, I will be there august 2020 for my fourth visit.
This was great! Thank you!
Please were crash helmets when riding motorcycles also decent footware. If you are staying in a half decent hotel its safer to leave things such as passports in the hotel. Perhaps the best dentist in town is Eurodental, the best hospital is Royal Ratanak with SOS the best clinic. My info is based on living and working in Cambodia for 20 years.
Dude you rock absolutely phenomenal job!
Thanks for visited my country
From Cambodian
Great video. But a little gloomy in some parts. I have walked around riverside, Duon Phen, ect many times over the last few years at night and the early hours. Probably 100+ times in all. I had no visible valuables and I have never had an issue. I made some friends in fact. In my opinion it's a lot safer than many European cities. As with most of South East Asia, common sense and respect will get you a long way!
The thing I want to recommend is that please don’t leave your expensive stuff in the hotel room. You can’t trust anyone 😅
Unusually concise and to the point, unlike so many you tube travel videos which are scattered and just plain narcissistic. Thanks.
what do you think about Cambodia 🇰🇭
Thanks for all the helpful info – I am thinking about taking a job there. Was curious – how easy or difficult is it for a larger foreign man (6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with large feet) to find clothes and shoes there? Thanks for any advice!
Cambodia is in my bucket list for my next visit
Last time I was in Cambodia was about 18yrs ago. I see better paved roads and sidewalks now, newer buildings and nice promenades which hardly existed then. Still a bit dirty though. I'd like to visit this country again, someday nevertheless.
Nice video. Just got back home from PP today after a 6-day visit.
Tip #1 : Always get nice clean dollar notes. Always. Any little tear say goodbye to your 100$. Recheck always.
Cheek your thumbs up logo it’s stuck ,on

Thank you I am from Cambodia👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Why some shops charging foreigners US$ instead of local currency?
Marry my Cambodian friend? Khemra kung is her Facebook. Thank you
Beautiful culture. The city needs much cleaning up of garbage along the walkways and stop littering. In addition to paved sidewalks that are much needed, much more pavement is needed all around the city and country. And much needed new and better sewer system throughout the city and country. Severely.
Thx u for sharing the video 🙂👍
