Rosemary O'Connell, Lee Travel – ITAA Conference 2021, Alentejo, Portugal

Rosemary O’Connell from Lee Travel was delighted to win a trip to Portugal and to attend the ITAA Conference 2021 in Evora, Alentejo. Rosemary joined a series of webinars by Visit Portugal where she won the trip to the ITAA Conference 2021 once the series ended. Rosemary felt this was a wonderful opportunity and had a fantastic time at the conference. She enjoyed her time meeting with other delegates after 18 months, taking part in the different activities and visiting the stunning venues organised as part of the trip.

– The reason I’m here is, we joined in the webinars that VisitPortugal produced for a number of weeks. At the end of this, there was the trip along with the ITAA and Visit Portugal for a place on this conference. Overwhelmed, we were, to receive the place and having a super time here. I’d like to thank Susana in Visit Portugal. She was just amazing, and I hope her leg recovers well. It was a fantastic opportunity for us.

– [Interviewer] Now, you arrived a little bit before the conference. What have you experienced?

– What I experienced were top-class, from arrival at the airport in Dublin, fast-tracked. We head into the lounge onto TAP airlines. Very smooth journey over. Arriving in Lisbon, we were transferred down to Tróia to overnight there. We had a beautiful evening in Setúbal, and we went across in a Catamaran. Thursday morning, up bright and early to go for our golf over in the Troia resort. Amazing, challenging, plenty of bunkers. Never want to see sand again. But it was a lovely, lovely day out. Lovely day. The weather has been absolutely fantastic. Didn’t expect this heat this time of the year. But love it, just to see a face again, we are, as they keep saying, we are a family, and we have been without anything. Everything has been on Zoom, not the same, certainly. And it was just emotional. If you like, just come back and see everyone. After coming through such a long 18 months, you know. So I’m looking forward. This is going to be challenging, but I think having the conference here, being together, will invigorate us, get us going again.
