Hitsuishijima belongs to Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, and is the island over which the Seto Ohashi Bridge spans.
Hitsuishijima is a neighboring island of Iwakuro Island, and although its location is closer to Okayama Prefecture, it is an island in Kagawa Prefecture.

Hitsuishijima is not the site of the Setouchi Triennale 2022, but the grandfather of Japanese painter Kaii Higashiyama was born and raised on this island.
This is the reason why the Higashiyama Kaii Setouchi Art Museum was built on Shamijima Island in Sakaide City. The museum has a permanent exhibition of paintings by Higashiyama Kaii.

Hitsuishijima is not a tourist destination, but it is possible to land on the island by taking the Kotosan Bus, which travels between Sakaide City in Kagawa Prefecture and Kojima City in Okayama Prefecture.

Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the day this video was shot, but as the sun rose, the rays of the sun gradually shone on the island. I think you’ll find it a beautiful sunrise, different from the one we saw on Onaruto Bridge!
