My Taiwan Cycling Trip comes to an end in a big way in day 14! I start off the day by saying goodbye to Natalie, who is heading back to the US. Then I am off to Xindian (新店), to meet some new friends for a big 100km group ride to the Southwest of Taipei to Dongyanshan National Forest (東眼山).
It ended up being an amazing ride, with amazing weather and company, as well as beautiful sights from the tops of the two large peaks we climbed. In total, I rode 113km, climbing 1,670 meters, maxing out at a peak of 870 meters on Dongyanshan.

After riding back to Tapei, I grabbed some breakfast at Yonghe Chinese Type Breakfast, which has some amazing steamed soymilk.
Next stop, back to the hostel, where I have to box my bike back up and get ready to head back to the airport. I was quickly reminded how not fun it is carrying a giant backpack while walking and carrying a giant bike box. This time, the bike box was weight down even more with various souvenirs (food) that I bought for friends (myself).
I cannot emphasize enough how much fun I had on this trip. I’ve really fallen in love with Taiwan, it’s food, it’s cycling culture, and everyone I met was really kind. Looking forward to come back and do another Taiwan Cycling Trip. Hopefully next time I can explore areas outside of Taipei..

I finally finished editing my final day's video for my Taiwan Cycling Trip back in February. The entire series is saved as a playlist on my channel, so be sure to check out the entire playlist if you are interested in watching the earlier videos. I do plan on making a few other videos about my time in Taiwan which are separate from the daily VLOGS, so be sure to stay tuned for those!
Swwwweeeeeeetttt!!!!
Nice video! BTW, how was your experience travelling by airplane with your bike? Any scratches or damage on your bike?
3:00 It's not kimchi, just dry cabbage. It will be brittle (not sure if the "brittle" can be used for describing the food here).
nice video
Bye , Cruise
Thanks for letting us see more higher and wilder of Taiwan by standing on ur Two Wheel .
How about the riding path in Taiwan from a view of world-level pro biker ?
Had u done circle around my country ?Hope someday will meet u accidentally at my hometown(southern of Taiwan-Tainan).
Take care and go get them , Tiger , my champion.
Sorry to see your Taiwan riding series coming to an end. I hope the gang will return to visit the other parts of Taiwan next Feb. 2018. P.S. You need to fix typo on "Houston". 🙂
thanks for the videos bro. most of the lads you were riding with seem like ex-pats. can you tell me how you got in touch with them? i'm moving out to Taiwan in December and am looking for a group to ride with. thanks.
love your video, come back soon!
Nice video! Really enjoyed it! Do you have a Strava page so that we could follow your adventure routes? Also if would be super great if you can share some bike packing and traveling strategies in a video:)
wow! all too familiar! I was there around the same time as you, cycling Taiwan for 900 km start going westward (started from Bi Tan), came back to Bi Tan from the east, Bei Yi highway. climbed two 500 m elevation.
Nice video! I've seen the last part of clip, you carry bike box with your bare hand all the way to airport? Men! I Just feel my hand hurts by watching you carry it… A little advice, maybe you could bring folding trolley with you, it save a lot of effort to carrying huge box.
Appreciated for your videos showing nice views and perspectives on Taipei City by cycling and walking.
When you visit here next time, maybe you can see somewhere outside Taipei City.
Those dried vegetables are Traditional way to save food for long(Japanese do the same thing, too). You may like to try one of famous dishes in Taiwan named "dried radish omelette ". It's wonderful with rice. 🙂
Next time try to put some axis throught strengthened holes (you can make a sleeves) in your cardbox with a small wheels on it.
Pulling it is much easier.
Great video. Do you know about Taiwan KOM challenge?
