WHAT?! You have to pay to use public toilets, and to drink water in Europe?! And cigarettes are fashionable?

It’s about time someone addresses the cultural differences between the USA and Europe!

I just finished a 6 week Eurotrip — which means I’ve now spent more than 1 year of my life in Europe, and visited every single country on the continent (yes, all 45 countries!)

While many things are similar about American and European culture, there are plenty of little (and BIG) differences that I’d like to bring to your attention in this video!

It took me 6 weeks of compiling this footage, writing this script, and editing this video… so I hope you like it! And if you enjoy, please share with your friends 🙂

  1. Great points…I am currently traveling to Europe….you hit on all the points I gathered lol. especially water and public toilets. You missed one thing ! (I think) And there are no 24 hr stores or restaurants in Europe. (Germany is the worst everything closes at 8pm). The only restaurants open late in Europe are McDonald's, Burger king …again the American ones lol.

  2. Europe has no AC in summer. In US, AC is taken for granted even in a tiny convenience store. (even in not so hot states)

  3. In America, strangers on the street smile and nod …mostly greet if you are walking alone. In Europe (at least Czech) , if you smile a stranger on the street or bus, they think you are a idiot or someone trying to get something from you.

  4. In Porto Portugal the town was making expansions to the Metro line & we accidentally stumbled upon ruins of a old aqueduct, just buried under the town's city hall. Nobody knew it was there and it is probably older than the entire USA..

  5. What do you mean by water is not free in restaurants ?? Of course it's free, if you ask for tap water it's totally free.

  6. One difference I can contribute: when Asian engineers consider the target location for skilled immigrants, we mention that Europe is more socialist, which is regarded as a drawback.

  7. Regarding, Before 16th century America, who can tell how the Spanish People took over America and what they did with the native Americans. I think that is some serious history.

  8. 1:28 Oh God please no…. You should of said FOOTBALL and not SOCCER…. You're not in the USA, so please say it normally…. It's such a big event… Europeans love more football than the Americans themselves…

  9. In Germany you dont recieve 25 cents as a gift for a bottle. You pay 25 cents more when you buy the drink 🙂

  10. It's not uncommon to find Europeans that speak 4, 5 or 6 languages fluently? That's just not true. As a Dutch guy most of my friends and family only speak Dutch and English more or less fluently, some words here and there in German maybe, but definitely not 4 languages fluently lol. And that's from someone's that speak 3 languages fluently

  11. The mistake here is the usual, you stick to the first thing that comes and use it as if it was the rule… It is not! It much more as Marneus Calgar pointed out… So this video is useless…
