The way we make sense of our world today is through BORDERS. It’s also the way in which we are able to govern our societies.
In today’s video, join me as I tell you about some of the world’s most bizarre borders which will leave you scratching your head!!
– NORTH KOREA v. SOUTH KOREA
– KALININGRAD, RUSSIA v. EUROPEAN UNION
– AZERBAIJAN v. NAGORNO-KARABAKH
– THE DIOMEDE ISLANDS: RUSSIA v. USA
– ANTARCTICA
If you ask me, borders (in general) are a strange concept. Like hundreds of years ago, the notion of creating an imaginary line that separates humans beings from one territory to another is weird — and today, it seems as if borders are permanent. What are your thoughts on borders?

If you want strange borders then check Baarle Nassau and Baarle Hertog. Baarle Hertog are about 26 Belgium small enclaves mixed up with the Dutch town Baarle Nassau. They are scattered around like pieces of broken glass. The border even crosses shops. It was expecially "fun" during covid lockdown because regularly one of the two countries went in lockdown and the other didn't so they simply made two entrances and closed the one on the lockdown side and kept the one n the non- lockdown side open. Belgium at once even had a hard lockdown with barrels on the street to prevent Dutch people comming for fuel (about 40 euro cent per liter cheeper than Holland)and spreading the virus. It was totally crazy there at that time.
1:02 not the DMZ
How about the border between Spain and Morocco on the Peñón de Velez
2:27 and Turkey
In finland and sweden border there is a golf field middle of it
The enclaves between India – Bangladesh are so weird, your head will spin trying to understand. There are parts of India surrounded by Bangladesh and vice-versa.
Kaliningrad is now a separate country

No one goes to Antarctica execpt scientists
Some Liberal Democrats believe the U.S should have no border.
Azerbaijan also borders Turkey 🇹🇷
Zanzibar and Tanzania was a little strange to me in that it felt like I entered a new country and has to get my passport stamped but I was still in tanzania. Nothing like that happened traveling back to Tanzania. The Zanzibari had a lot of resentment towards Tanzania too.
Hey Drew. Your videos mesmerize me. I can't stop watching them. I have only been to 18 countries but overseas 26 times. I am going to have my 10th travel visit to South Africa this year. I LOVE the Republick van Suid Afrika (Afrikaans). Greg Adams, Springfield, louisiana
You should talk about the border between Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. They have a triple-sided bench which each side of the bench is part of the country so you can sit in the middle of the bench and be in 3 countries at the same time.
The most complicated international border is in Baarle Nassau ( Netherlands – Belgium 🙂 🙂
Kaligrad
azerbaijan
Also a cool border is in Orenburg, Russia, it divides Asia and Europe with a bridge.
Fun fact, Baku means “formal” in Indonesian
I wonder Drew, have you seen Cyprus? 🤔There is a border in Cyprus that divide the island to two parts, North which is occupied by Turkey and south Cyprus ( which is the country itself).
is this a box ripoff? lol
You missed Golan heights and Gaza strip
Chile has territory and settlements in Antarctica.
A cool border is the Ceuta-morocco border. Ceuta is a spanish city that is just like any other spanish city but is actually in North africa, due to immigration it has the EU’s most fortified border. The only way to get to ceuta or melilla is by taking a ferry or flying a helicopter
Serbia 🇷🇸 and Kosovo 🇽🇰 have one of the most interesting borders as well. Kosovo isn’t recognized as an independent country by Serbia.
Russia shares border with china and USA also this is crazy Coz distance between china and USA is 11640 km now think how big is Russia geographically
misinformation>>>>>>India and Nepal are not separated by Himalayas, Iran never had war with Azerbaijan nor Armenia

I really thought you would include the unnatural borders in the Middle East (drawn by french and British generals) to divide and conquer. And, of course, the borders between Palestine and Israel, 2 very similar and semitic nations that have been at war for over 70 years.
Wondering if you have been to Transnistria and how that factors in.
