On this Solo Over Night adventure I decided to do what was supposed to be a simple solo over night to get in some exercise and bushcraft a raft. It was a 10-12km hike through Crown Land, 700m across a lake and another 3-4km through the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Reserve where I’d meet up with Sabrina the next day.
I wanted to push myself physically so I packed a lot of gear I really didn’t need. My dry bag weighed in at 65Lbs. 3km into the hike I jumped over a small swamp with a 2′ elevation drop. Not having the dry bag adjusted properly, when I landed I tore the AC Joint in my left shoulder and did some damage to my rotator cuff. This lead to extreme pain followed by bad decision making, like putting the cartridge backwards into my water filter causing it not to work. As the dehydration set in, the injury got worse and so did my choices.
I don’t want to say this trip was a failure, because I learned some valuable lessons. but I can say it didn’t go as planned.

I have to tell you that whatever lens or setting (fisheye?) you’re using on your camera, I find difficult/unpleasant to watch. It’s very wavy and distorting to the view you are showing.
Man, I’d trade hiking through 10 thunderstorms rather than deal with those flys for 10 minutes lol
I grew up hiking in the Adirondacks and Green Mountains so I know how miserable that was.
i always travel with a packet of bug wipes …. i find them so much lighter than the spray and they last a long time in their resealable bag … crazy adventure sorry you got injured it can happen quick that’s for sure … get well soon fella atb Dave Mc
Cool video 😊✌️🧘♂️❤️👣
Awesome video. Enjoy your day.
Wow, the amount of flies were insane. Typically people complain about flies and you don't really see them but in this case there were so many flies that i saw them more than you lol. I have to be honest that ever since you told the Coyote story on Backcountry Couples, I have been questioning one of my spots that I backpacked last fall and had planned to do this fall. There was a lot of Coyote activity and I am pretty much always solo. I'll most likely go back but I will be very alert for sure! Thanks for sharing and being awesome!!!
Hope your okay…. Live and learn huh? Loving the videos thanks for sharing it all appreciate it xoxo
