Matsumoto City
Information center for Matsumoto city and nearby places like kaminokuchi, Venus Line, Shirakawa Lake, and other tourist places of Nagano.
Matsumoto city is located in Nagano prefecture Japan and is known for Matsumoto Castle.
let’s go to visit the castle. This is the entrance of the castle and there are no charges to visit the castle from outside.
Matsumoto Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in black color which makes it unique. It was built between 1592 to 1614 during Sengoku Period for the residence of military commanders.
From the outside, it looks like 5 storied castle but it is 6 storied castle from the inside. The water around the castle and the red Japanese bridge and garden make it more beautiful. The reflection of a castle on the water attracts tourists to take more and more pictures from various angles. Here we tried to become a photographer.

Nakamachi Street
Around 400 years ago Nakamachi street in Matsumoto city was a market for kimono, alcohol, and other daily needs, and the buildings are made of fireproof white plaster.
Now, this street is lined with shops of traditional clothes, art, pottery, gifts, etc. We found an amazing shop where you can buy antique items and we found a notebook full of Japanese characters kanji. These documents are not easy to read. These are metal stamps that were used by local people. And these are old stamps which were used by people in history.

Time to enjoy local food with Soba noodles and sweet cake from Ohkura cake house.
