Opened in 1880, this spot is said to be the birthplace of sea bathing in Japan. It consists of the 900m long Higashihama coast and the 1,500m long Nishihama coast.
Nishihama is Okayama Prefecture’s first artificial beach, and the shallow beach spreads out. It has been selected as one of the top 100 beaches in Japan.
Palm trees are planted in the tropical style, and various events such as beach festivals and beach volleyball competitions are popular.
