I tried Filipino foods in New York for the first time. Watch me react to Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa (kalabasa sa gata), a coconut stew with shrimp, squash and string beans (snake beans). I also went to Lower Manhattan to try Taho (a Filipino sweet tofu dessert) with sago (tapioca pearls) for the first time. Manhattan has great Pinoy food if you know where to look. I really enjoyed tasting new dishes and experiencing the cuisine of the Philippines, I hope you get to try some yourself!

  1. We eat Taho for breakfast only. There’s a guy that sells taho everyday, he always passes our house and he screams Taho, Taho, as soon as heard him, We get outside and buy Taho. Very delicious 🀀.

  2. Back in Manila usually 1 or 2 Taho vendors walk around the neighborhood sometimes in the morning sometimes in the afternoon. I always buy with extra Boba πŸ˜…

  3. I use patis or bagoong to taste when eating ginataang kalabasa… 🀣

  4. oh nice vegetarian food, that would be a superb idea about San Miguel Beer (Red Horse) and Crispy Pata. About the Taho….. it would be better if you mixed it first like Halo-halo before eating it . Im soooo looking forward to that San Miguel and Crispy Pata though 😊😊😊

  5. When filipino eats, we put transfer our food to our plate. Never will we eat our food from the vessel or bowl were the food was served. We will take our food to our plate and do what ever we want to do to our food in our plate.

  6. Taho is commonly a breakfast or after breakfast fare in the Philippines. Common filipinos would rather have a savory breakfast like the silog dishes.

  7. Healthier version of taho, replace the caramel with honey and add fresh fruits. That's protein, carbs & vits.

  8. The classic taho is for breakfast….the dessert version is the ube or strawberry….btw Bilao ( bee-lah-oh) is a shallow container made of dried palm leaves and usually used as a serving dish…

  9. Hopia is like a mooncake basically…..taho is actually a quick breakfast in the Philippines, you can hear taho vendor on the streets yelling taho taho taho😁

  10. Taho doesn't need spoon indeed. You just drink and sip it right away. It's good for breakfast and it's has alot of good healthy benefits.

  12. Hehhe i think someone should teach you to pronounce bagoong and ube properly since you mention it often…..
    ube is OOBEH
    bagoong is BAHGO-ONG

  13. Ginataan or the root word gata came from the word coconut milk.
So yeah a healthy dish its just a plain squash and long bean. You can also add your protein like pork or shrimp if u want to..

Taho is a breakfast/ snack/ or a dessert kind of meal..

  14. Each fil food you try makes me crave for it too. Always a good choice. Anything with coconut milk erupts the flavor with some chilli pepper, cayenne or whatever makes it hot-spicy. Btw, bilao is pronounced bee-luh-oh.

  15. No it isn't the future of Bubble Tea in Korea, actually the TAHO is originated in China way back 206 A.D. in the Philippines but the Filipino enhanced the flavor long time ago before the Spaniards came to the Philippines in 1500s

  16. Tagalog is phonetic. im no expert in languages or w/e but if you are trying to learn how to say tagalog words correctly say them exactly how they are spelled. Example: Bagoong is ba-go-ong not ba-goong. there would be excempetions like for proper nouns and stuff like especially borrowed words. No hate intended, just if anyone is curious.

  17. try cassava cake next time. by the way taho, no need for a spoon. just drink it from the glass after mixing them all.

  18. THANKS FOR LOVING. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ FOOD
THATS OUR FAVE KALABASA AND SITAW πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  19. bagoong = ba-go-ong β€’ you are correct. in the philippines, we have taho in the morning for breakfast. usually it is sold warm.

  20. brah…appreciate yor Filipino food open mindedness…new suscriber…Bourdain..Jersey boy love my country…

  21. You never been wrong. Taho is a breakfast food and can consumed mostly via drinking. You should mixed it just like halo halo so the flavor will be even.

  22. I'm sorry I'm late to discover your channel. I really enjoy to watch you eating Filipino food. Hope to see you here in our country soon. 😊
