【Munakata Taisha Shrine(Hetsugu)】
It is one of Japan’s oldest shrines mentioned in Japanese mythology. Okitsugu, Nakatsugu, and Hentsugu are collectively called Munakata Taisha.
Although the shrine has long been worshipped as a god of safe navigation, it is now also believed to be a god of traffic safety, not limited to maritime activities.
Hetsugu is one of the components of the Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Associated Sites in the Munakata Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
