Come with me for a walkabout through Shijohon-dori, just an offshoot of Kokusai Street. This shopping street is an excellent market in downtown Naha. Covered overhead so you can enjoy rain or shine, this locale gives you a breather from the usual souvenir shops you find on Kokusai. Now while you can find your essential Okinawa souvenirs here (Okinawa glass, shishas, purple yam treats, etc.), you can also find so much more. Ceramics, textiles, traditional clothing, beauty products, and not to mention excellent seafood and produce markets offer new options for great prices (often lower prices than the regular grocery stores). In addition, there are great little bars and restaurants tucked in all over. And if you have had one too many Orion beers and need to sleep it off, conveniently, there is a hotel right in the middle of the market (Mr. Kinjo, which usually has cheap rates if you book ahead).
