Thanks Tony👌👌
Excluding some of the buffets, dining in Vegas has become ridiculously expensive (along with everything else). On my last trip we found it nearly impossible to find basic, everyday restaurant meals for less than around $30 plus tip per person. And a typical dinner meal in a nice restaurant will run at least $100 each. The upside is the portions are absurdly gigantic at literally every place we ate. And you won't want to take the leftovers because where are you going to put them? We started ordering one meal per couple for basic meals like breakfast and lunch and splitting it. Much better value and everyone had just the right amount of food.
Another thing you take for granted anywhere else is water – Almost no drinking water to be found for less than $5 per bottle on the strip. This quickly becomes a major unplanned expense, especially in summer. We hunted around and found a vending machine at our hotel hidden in an alcove with "only" $3 water so we stocked up each morning before hitting the strip.
For the aerial view – skip the overrated, and very hot, High Roller. The view from the Eiffel Tower at the Paris is nearly as impressive and more enjoyable. If you go to Fremont Street, do not leave the immediate area at night unless you are in a large group because North Vegas is a very high crime area.
It's generally a good idea to NOT try driving yourself in LV, especially on the Strip. Just don't. It will completely ruin an otherwise enjoyable trip. But –
One MAJOR problem in LV is the severe lack of affordable transportation. Extreme price gouging has become normalized over the past couple of years. Don't even think of using an Uber or Lyft if you value your cash. Use taxis or limos as they will usually be cheaper and more reliable. We paid $70 for a Lyft from the airport to the Belagio – a 10 minute ride. The same ride via taxi was $30, with tip. We also had several Lyft drivers accept and cancel at the last second, making getting around much more difficult than usual. We started using taxis instead and had zero issues from then on, and spent far less on fares.
