2022 summer travel is mad! Long queues, delays, cancellations, and missing baggage. Sharing with you the latest data on the most delayed airlines and airports around the world. Think twice before you travel!

Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) had the highest number of flight cancellations in Europe after its pilots went on a strike. The troubled airline has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US. Eurowings is another carrier that has cancelled about 8% of their flights last minute.

Toronto Pearson Airport saw the most flight delays in North America, followed by Dallas Fort Worth and New York-JFK. 46% of Air Canada flights ran late. In the last 30 days, an average of one out of five flights a day arrived behind schedule in the U.S.

I am also sharing some useful tips on how to travel these days. Fly in the morning on non-stop flights, bring only carry-on bags, download airline apps, knowing your rights and being patient are some of the key takeaways to survive delays and cancellations.

At the end of the video, an aviation expert talked about when we will expect a smoother travel experience and how to fix the current problem.

  1. That's why I left my travel agent job, after working full time in travel for the last 29 years…Plus I used to love to travel and went somewhere almost every month, but now I have no desire whatsoever to fly anywhere, especially that my base airport is Toronto Pearson. I used to love to connect thru the Amsterdam airport and now I'm in shock that it's the worst airport for delays in the whole Europe. World is turned upside down…Thanks Sam for these statistic. Greetings from Ontario.

  2. Snacks especially when traveling with kids or old people instant drinks to add to water cup noodle hard candy

  3. Kinda sick of the ol’ “lack of staff” excuse. It’s the same problem plaguing the healthcare industry. You laid off or intimidated your workers during the pandemic then turn around and want them to come crawling back to you like nothing happened? They can definitely afford paying better wages with some better incentives, but want to barely scrap by to save to dime at the consumers expense. If you don’t have enough staff to make the experience pleasurable in a reasonable sense, don’t sell the ticket! It’s just greed!

  4. This will be first world problem forever.. they blame skilled workers shortages/digitalisation but it would be hard to align these demands unless the government take some innovative way!! European airports are so massive they become unmanageable even if you devise most efficient process!

  5. This is the biggest BULL SHIT reporting ever viewer just flew to Cancun Mexico for 1 week holiday and return with Air Canada leaving TO airport for Cancun 8 AM returning from Cancun noon everything was smooth like silk not a single minute of delay hand carry suitcase on the safe side everything was hunky dory Chui you sensationalized the situation for the sake of sensation please DO NOT DO THAT

  6. i will as not against cov. vaccinated no longer fly/travel. I don't support this system of discrimination, I don't risk my health and I don't see that I have to load any apps onto my phone. I can't handle those things either. my vaccinated family far away is welcome to get on a plane and visit me

  7. Crazy. I’m in the US and we avoid having connecting flights not unless you are going to the Hawaiian island. I went to San Jose California via SouthWest . Pick Airlines that have tons of direct flights to your destination from your local airport.
We are not flying to Europe anytime soon. They need to update their system.

  8. United sucks when it comes to international travel. Newark EWR is one of the lousiest airports in the United States.

  9. Think things are bad now? Wait till the war escalates and there is almost no civil aviation. Tens of millions will be stranded and left to fend for themselves. Think of the road and rail traffic then, and it will be even more impossible, as freight and military supplies will likely take priority. If the war expands, of course, otherwise it will just remain bad and not terrible. People do not seem to grasp how serious this little war is, should it escalate into Europe proper. And become a real war.

  10. I had worst experience while flying from Montreal to Halifax. They were mentioned like 3-4 hours delay. But later they mentioned flight had canceled. I got the boarding on next day. I had to wait in Airport for 12 hrs. Worst experience in my life!

  11. Is the situation the same now? As I am travelling to Germany next week, I am worried.

  12. I flew business class from hk to Ireland. for my return flight , they sold me aticket with only one hour of transit time. Knowing the situation at Amsterdam airport , I reached out to KLM to reschedule because I miss the connection flight to HK , the next flight is one week later. I tried e mail ,phoning , whataspp, no response. eventually , I have to pay 550 Euros extra to change my flight with a better connection time.
it is.so unethical, irresponsible to sell such a ticket and then robbing a passenger rather than helping. it is such a terrible airline .

  13. LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
Tie three or four colored ribbons around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is NOT THEIR luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it. https://youtu.be/q-gLsegazCs

Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the airport turnstile…
    https://youtu.be/4NfX2W4DN7E

These ribbons make your luggage different and EASY TO SPOT when the piece is surrounded by 35 other cases unloaded from the bus. Using 4 ribbons make it immediately different than other cases with 1 ribbon.

Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long and not longer. Cut the ends at 45 degrees.

Tie to the base of the handle, tie to the metal buckle. Thus, it will not slip along the handle.

Tie the ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. This is too short to catch on anything such as rollers.

Scissor cut trim the ribbons to cascading different lengths after they are tied. Put a drop of Super Glue at the end.
If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/4” the color layers will all show up no matter how they drape.

You can see these ribbons from 40 feet away.
Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case.
Tie using a HALF WINDSOR KNOT to the metal buckle ring of the handle.

    Learn Half Windsor knot tying:
It is the 2nd example in this video
    https://youtu.be/X0yh5rKB9lE
    This knot does not loosen.

Put your phone number on one ribbon using a fine point permanent Sharpie.
    Example: “Owner 454-333-7878”
    No personal name necessary.
No address necessary on the ribbon.

Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. The 4th ribbon could be black color.

Stand by the output port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing your piece.

Tie your skiies, duffel bag, backpack and what ever else with matching ribbons—even your computer case.

If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself.
Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible.

    Pleasant color combinations:
    Red, white and blue
    Chartreuse and purple and orange
    Orange and light blue
    Orange and yellow
    Gray and pink
    Green and yellow
    Red and Green
    Red and Gold
Light blue and light green and white

The 4th ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan

    Tip #2 PICTURE RECORD
Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. Take a picture of the interior. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like” if someone is tasked with searching for it.
You can show this picture to the searcher or attach a picture to your report for lost luggage.

Take this picture outside in direct sun not under neon lights.

    Tip #3 INSIDE IDENTITY
Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put TWO pieces in DIFFERENT places such as INSIDE a pocket to the case. If you dare, put your phone number DIRECTLY ON THE FABRIC Liner of the case WITHOUT USING TAPE. Or, put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape…

To be sneaky about the tape, put your phone number on the STICKY side of the tape. Nothing is on the surface side of this tape.

    Tip #4 HIDDEN IDENTITY
Put your phone number on a 2” x 1/2” piece of fabric or plastic sheet. Use colored Duct tape, such as black or red or neon, to tape this message to the top side of the handle. This message is under the tape hidden from view. The lettering does not touch the sticky part. Wrap it 2-3 times. Also include Tips 1,2,3 above. If you need to prove identity of the case, just unwrap it and show.

    Tip #5 ADDING UNIQUENESS
    Use 4 ribbons
    Add 1 designer ribbon
    colored duct taped handle

Stencil SPRAY PAINT a 2” or smaller stencil letter or number or word or your initials to the suit case exterior surface in addition to using all the other ideas here. Stencil spray the BOTTOM OF THE CASE as well.

Stencil spray paint a letter to the TOP ribbon.
Use ribbons that are wider or more narrow than 1”.
Put a travel sticker on the case.

    Tip #6 WEIGH YOUR OWN
Scales accuracy varies at different airports. If you are even 1 pound over, you pay. So, regulate yourself. Found on Ebay, buy a
    HAND HELD DIGITAL SCALE
    It is less than $15.

    Tip #7 GPS TRACKING DEVICE
Duct tape to an inside pocket a GSM GPS Tracking device. Find them on Ebay. Your iphone can tell you where your luggage is.
Is it in another city? https://youtu.be/qJkUSNIBsP0

    HomingPIN tracker https://youtu.be/V96ADrVzhys

    Gego Tracker https://youtu.be/EI0ARnEqq-w
    Worldwide Tracker …GSM, Wifi, Bluetooth
    USB rechargeable

Tip #8 OLD TAGS, YOUR ITINERARY
Remove old trip tags before you arrive at the airport. Remove confusion.
Put a copy of your trip itinerary in an outside pocket so the agent can redirect the bag.
Ask the travel agent to send you copies.
Photograph all travel documents using your cell phone.

    Tip #9 FLIGHT SAFETY
Put laptops, cameras and jewelry in your CARRY-ON. https://youtu.be/fQLIwVXa3oU

Tip #10 LET LUGGAGE FOLLOW YOU
    Choose non stop flights.
Choose connecting flights of at least 90 minutes so luggage has time to be transferred to the next plane.
Compare white luggage destination tag city code to your itinerary for accuracy.

Tip #11 TAKE SCREEN SHOTS OF THESE TIPS
Then share them with your friends. Include the Tube Video seen here also.

    Tip #12 PHOTOGRAPH THIS
    Your travel plan
    Vaccine Passport
    Hotel confirmations handwritten by you.
Your luggage, inside and out. Include unusual words spray paint stenciled on luggage by you. Show a close up of ribbon colors.
Your destination luggage tag, bar code tag
    Receipts for payment of trip.
If you lose paper versions, you have a backup.
Passcode lock your cell phone in case it is lost.

    Tip #13 LUGGAGE DESTINATION TAG
Check the accuracy of the white luggage tag code against your itinerary. You may be sending your luggage to the wrong city.

Tip #15 IF YOU SELL LUGGAGE
Include a set of 3-4 ribbons, 14” long, with the sale. Consider tying them on for the customer. Sell an extra set for the hand carry piece.

    ……

  14. There's no "shortage of staff", there's a shortage of employers that want to pay enough to get the staff to work.

It's all about "market dynamics" and "supply and demand" in earnings reports but suddenly its a "staff shortage" when it comes to paying employees a liveable wage.

  15. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Show me a man with no investment and i will tell you how long it takes to fail. The investment creates a safe haven for the future, with the right investment choice that has at least a minimum risk of 2% and with Expert advice, both profits and interest are 100% Guaranteed

  16. 3 days ago i was meant to fly from Bristol to Kaunas on Ryanair but it got diverted so I had to go on a bus from Bristol to Birmingham to fly to Kaunas it got delayed 5 times until we drove on a bus to Birmingham and when we got to Birmingham there was another delay because the other bus took the faster route (if there wasn’t massive traffic) and when i got to Bristol it was supposed to be a early flight but when we got Birmingham it was a very late flight

  17. My flight from Amman to Ecuador was cancelled with no notice accept once all the passengers had arrived. I didn't think to try to get compensation but maybe I should.

  18. The aviation sector was hit insanly hard due to COVID and tons of people lost their job or choose other sectors. You could see this coming from a mile away… covid lockdowns end, people want to travel again, aviation booms agains but… lack of people working in the sector now = disaster

  19. Avoid flying, if possible. Europe has great train travel options. With five hour delay to Vegas, better to drive.
Hell, even the bus might be a more relaxing option, if time permits…Or, just staycation.

  20. I flew with lufthansa recently. Everything was really good except when coming back we had a layover at munich. And the second we landed we found out our flight got delayed by 8 hours. Not only that, but when we went to the complaint desk since because of the delay we were going to miss our next flight, they said that they sent us an email about this long ago, except there was NO email. They even refused to do anything about the flight i was going to miss

  21. When i went back in italy was 2 planes
    Airline one to london
    Airline two to my city
Airport: ding dong lady and gentleman the flight to london is delayed for technifull problems
Then: ding dong lady and gentleman plane will be stuck for 5 hours
And when i departed i saw the plane still there

  22. Amsterdam is low on personal because the whole country is just a fricking mess because they are trying to greenwash

  23. Quite an informative video. But I am surprised Paris airport's name is not included in the list to avoid. We had a very bad experience at Charles de Gaulle airport in the month of May. Had to wait 4 hours in immigration line. Airport staff is also very rude. We almost nearly missed our Etihad flight. Our family had to literally run towards boarding gate with our cabin luggage and reached just 2 minutes before departure.

  24. I travelled to New Zealand from Australia and only had carry ons knowing the baggage situation with all airlines. Travel insurance is a must so these tips are good ones they worked for me to allow me to have a reasonable travel experience.

  25. Dublin airport is usually lovely, during the summer it got really busy and even at that i traveled around 2-3 months later after that hectic month and had a lovely experience!

  26. While as a passionate traveler I am obviously bummed to see the „golden age of flying“ (well, that was many moons ago actually, but price wise it was heavenly before the pandemic hit) end, but I always knew that the prices weren‘t sustainable. Hopefully, both airports and airlines will learn their lesson. On the other hand it doesn‘t hurt if flying returns to costs a bit more, making it less attractive and therefore forcing people to chose other means of travel or do not travel long distance in the first place. It was fun while it lastet but from an ecologicial point of view, it might be for the better if flying becomes less attractive. As much as I love it.

  27. This is what happens when you have commie and fascist governments. Europe will not survive the winter unless people change the regimes there.

  28. One time I was flying from Poland to The U.S.A and we had a shrike and it was bad and we had some more bad news it said strike may cutie soooo but we had good news that it was over

  29. The airlines are horrible ripping off the traveler. The price of a ticket can go 3 hundred percent on the internet from one hour to the next
The airlines say is because of the demand increase. I say is a bunch of BS. Hotels do not do that kind of things when you make a reservation.
The problem with the airlines is when.they are in trouble , they ask the government for money, the taxpayers money. Later they will ripped off the taxpayers with their abuse with the prices.
The politicians need to do something about this.
They ripped off the travelers all year around. In the Spring because of the Eastern, Summer because of the vacation, Fall because of the Thanks giving week, winter because of the holidays.
As a private businesses they can charge what ever they want. By the same token don't ask the government for our tax money when things are not good.
