  1. Starting September 07 visas are no longer required and free self tourism opens fully from September 07 …… no group tours . No package tours . Your own private travel

  2. Honestly you just unlocked a new fear for me with the possibility of Japan asking for 4 shots of the vaccine in order to enter. In my country a second booster is reserved to the elderly, so there’s no way I will get it even if I wanted.

  3. For me and my wife to visit her family in Japan (we’re in the UK) I’ve been told I need to get a visa in person from the embassy in London and her family need to send two copies of the family register over to us, hopefully they’ll drop all of that soon and I can just get a visa online 🤞🏻

  4. I am excited that Japan is opening up. Visa's are no big deal. Having traveled, its not uncommon. I am not interested in using travel agents or going on group tours but have done both. Will probably delay some more before returning but am happy looking forward to changes.

  5. I gotta admit…I hate the three shots requirement…I got the first two shots due to my job at the time, I don't really feel like nor think the third shot will make any differene

  6. Visa and tours need to go away. Until then… It’s almost like we are feeling guilty for asking Japan to speed up things like the rest of the world!! Be a normal country ffs…

  7. Hello, I'm from the UK 🇬🇧 and I booked my flight to Japan in December 2022.

    What do you guys think?
Would there be a high possibility that Japan will be open for independent travelling for foreign nationals by then?

    I really really hope so!

Also, my flight can be re-booked many times and is refundable, which is good.

But in terms of my free time, it will only be December for this year. And I’m really hoping to go because I would like to spend my Christmas in Japan!

  8. Even if they would open up tomorrow it will be a historical stupidness of japan. I think i almost lost my whole love for japan. Canceled all my bookings today. Really really sad

  9. I don't mind the VISA. It's another hoop to jump through, but doable. I don't like the idea of the travel agency but if we can do everything we want to do through them, we may consider it. We'd still prefer to do things on our own terms.

We're not planning to go until next July (Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima) so hopefully everything will be normal then, who knows.

  10. As my son who has been embedded with the JASDF the last four years says “ what is obvious to the western mind is incomprehensible to the Japanese mind.” Not a knock on either way, just the cultural difference.

  11. Good to hear from you again John, it's been a while! We've been waiting to go now for almost 3 years. We still have our train ticket, they keep renewing it so…maybe next year?!

  12. Hello John, any prediction on yen to usd after 3 – 6 months… Seems like its also a good time to buy yen now, if you plan to go in 6 – 9 months later…?

  13. I have been to Asia many times and Japan four times. I have really enjoyed these trips, but I can’t imagine going to Asia for a long time until they drop all restrictions and get rid of masks, I don’t see that happening since Asians love masks in general.

  14. I enjoyed the melon video from Hokkaido. I missed Japan a lot. Hope there will be more easing before January.

  15. i don't get it. Why should Apple be reponsible for the postal lost or someone stolen it during delivery? Amazon doesn't and I don't expect Apple.

  16. No. Not good enough Japan. I'll come when I can show up when I want with no travel tour guided or not. 4th shot? No I don't want that. Ugh.

  17. i rather not do a travel agency and have them charge me a boat load of extra money. ill wait till i can book stuff alone like airbnbs and stuff.

  18. Was so looking forward to travel this fall in Japan. Wanted to return for a self guided travel. Until this relaxes, we will be booking European trip. Maybe next year ?

  19. It seems that countries are hoping/expecting/anticipating Covid to end after Omicron. Between Sept 2, 2021 and August 31, 3033 Japan has had 23,802 confirmed Covid deaths with most occurring between Feb. and August 2022. During the same period the US has had 400,000 confirmed Covid deaths.

Covid has not ended, hasn't shown signs it's ending and without measures in place to end the pandemic the pandemic may never end.

  20. Lame, my wife is Japanese and can go anytime. I have to go through an agent. No wander Japan haa been over taken by China. Lol, Japan still uses fax machines. Says it all

  21. Yeah there are still foolish restrictions and travel visas required. Not worth it.

  22. I'm from Canada so I just need to get an e-visa. I already got my 4th vaccine since it was required for work -_- I guess the only caveat left is booking through a travel agent. I don't mind booking a flight though a travel agent since prices are pretty similar for me. It's just everything else, like accommodations/travel itinerary/etc… I'd rather plan everything else myself and not have to pay big bucks for it. So I'm just going to wait until it's fully reopen. My travel plans for this year have switched to Hong Kong now.

  23. In Japan, I don't see the relationship between an entry visa and covid cases # (I am speaking as a US citizen who travel pre-covid visa-free); nor do I see any reason how a travel agent can make a difference in terms of covid cases. Still too much hassle to come to Japan.

  24. Be careful booking via a travel agent until more detail comes out. From JapanTimes: “The key is to have a sponsor in Japan, like a travel agency, and that they know the whereabouts of the traveler on a given day,” the official said, who asked not to be named in line with ministry guidelines. “They will also offer information on Japan’s social distancing rules and be the contact person if travelers get sick.”

  25. how about if i have multiple visa to japan and i have sister resident in japan but i got my visa by my self is that ok if i travel my visa then i go to my sister is my multiple visa allow? plss answer thank you

  26. I wish they would allow us without booking with a travel agency, It’s expensive and I want to spend money inside japan instead

  27. Why not add immediately you must go through a Japanese travel agent and have daily contact with the travel agent EVERY DAY plus visa & health insurance. It gives people not complete info.

  28. Different perspective from y’all… I don’t think the west is really the model to follow in terms of Covid. News in the US is that life expectancy has dropped past two years because of US Covid response. Y’all talking about safety like the west has solved Covid are crazy!

  29. I will not visit Japan yet. It is still negative news. It’s so restrictive! It’s so unfriendly! It’s so nonsense! Why should we follow their accommodation recommendations and their ways when we know what we want best for ourselves? So what if there is no chaperone? It’s still the same thing. We are being made to do certain things we do not want. There is no positives but it’s nonsense.
