Join me for a pre-opening visit to Studio Ghibli’s new theme park in Japan! The park won’t opening until November, but we can still wander around and check out the construction progress and get a feel for what things will be like. And while we’re at it, let’s talk about the plans for the 5 areas of the park, as well as how it will be different from other theme parks.

A note on copyright:
The nature of this video meant I had to draw heavily on imagery that does not belong to me. Obviously, most of the Ghibli-related images are copyrighted by Studio Ghibli, although to the best of my knowledge it was also media that had been released for non-commercial public use. (My videos aren’t monetized, and I have never profited from them in any way, so I assume this counts as ‘non-commercial’). I should mention though, that some of the imagery is also possibly fan art…if this is the case, and I have used your work without permission, let me know and I’ll give you a proper shout-out. As for the music used in this video, it’s the usual story: some tracks from the YouTube Creators’ Media Library, and some original stuff, ie. by Doctor Ebot. (About 50-50 in this one. Ask me for info on a particular track.) The Totoro theme-inspired track was based on a recording I took years ago at an elementary school kids’ concert. (Which I remixed a bit. Obviously.)

Which of the 5 theme areas of Ghibli Park are you most interested in visiting? Or…what would you want to see if they were planning a 6th area??
Very interesting concept for a theme park. But I'm not surprised that Studio Ghibli chooses to do things their own way. I'd love to visit some time.

Jordan, if they can make those numbers work for admission to the various "themed" areas, I think this is a good thing.
