Join me for a pre-opening visit to Studio Ghibli’s new theme park in Japan! The park won’t opening until November, but we can still wander around and check out the construction progress and get a feel for what things will be like. And while we’re at it, let’s talk about the plans for the 5 areas of the park, as well as how it will be different from other theme parks.

Make sure you reserve well in advance. The admission caps area a real thing.

A note on copyright:
The nature of this video meant I had to draw heavily on imagery that does not belong to me. Obviously, most of the Ghibli-related images are copyrighted by Studio Ghibli, although to the best of my knowledge it was also media that had been released for non-commercial public use. (My videos aren’t monetized, and I have never profited from them in any way, so I assume this counts as ‘non-commercial’). I should mention though, that some of the imagery is also possibly fan art…if this is the case, and I have used your work without permission, let me know and I’ll give you a proper shout-out. One such case is the ‘Disney-ified’ Ghibli theme park plan from the artist TAKUMI(tm). I didn’t ask permission to use that, but dude, if you’re reading this, thanks and cheers. Your other work on Instagram is extremely cool, and I advise people to check it out. (TAKUMITOXIN).

As for the music used in this video, it’s the usual story: some tracks from the YouTube Creators’ Media Library, and some original stuff, ie. by Doctor Ebot. (About 50-50 in this one. Ask me for info on a particular track.) The Totoro theme-inspired track was based on a recording I took years ago at an elementary school kids’ concert. (Which I remixed a bit. Obviously.)

  1. Very interesting concept for a theme park. But I'm not surprised that Studio Ghibli chooses to do things their own way. I'd love to visit some time.

  2. Jordan, if they can make those numbers work for admission to the various "themed" areas, I think this is a good thing.

  3. New guy here, not to be rude but in such a “clean” surrounding, you ought to stay on top of the stubble. Just my 2 cents and an inch or two off the hair

Your image is everything on Youtube in terms of success for vloggers

  4. As always very interesting video. I didn’t know about the Ghibli theme park . Looks very nice so far

  5. Another great video, you’re gonna make my wife very happy. I think I’m with you I want to see Mononoke the most. Although I am a little disappointed where was the beer?
