Possibly one of the most beautiful and serene places I’ve visited in my entire life, Shirakawa, located in Gifu prefecture, is a must for those travelling through Japan. From traditional buildings to mountains surrounding the valley, I cannot recommend it enough. And, it’s free!

As a fellow South African, do you ever have trouble making friends in Japan?
I stumbled upon your channel today while reminiscing on my time in Japan. Are you still over there? Covid derailed things for me. I left the country on March 19th 2020 hoping things would blow over and here we are eighteen months later.
