  1. Friendly tip (incase some viewers never got to the end) buy a JR pass in your own country before travelling to Japan for a cheaper price. Also remember it gets you on the Sunset Seto a sleeper train so a good 2 nights accommodation saving you on a hotel, with that in mind it makes the pass worth it…. ALSO as of this year if you travel with luggage you need to book a seat with luggage at the end of the carriage…. If you do not wish to travel with luggage any 7/11 can ship your luggage on the same day to anywhere in Japan for a very small fee 🙂 BTW DJI Mic is great much better than the Rode one I upgraded also

  2. This video disappeared from my subscribe list. くっそう!
Edit: i should have remembered. glad you’re back home safe.

  3. Nathan, I have been watching your content for what feels like a long time, but almost a year and a half has flown by and I am glad to have recently subscribed while watching this video. You are a generally bright spot for a hopeful like myself, as I am seeking to be a language student in Tokyo in 2023. I am glad to have seen your channel. Keep up the good work!

  4. Great stream as always fellow Japan enthusiast!

The requirement of having a negative PCR test to enter Japan being waived as of September 7 is a small positive step forward…

The rumored increase of the daily cap to 50,000 is good if it is in tandem with the rumored waiver of the visa requirement to enter Japan.

If not, it really changes nothing.

Getting rid of the visa requirement is the first major hurdle for actual reopening…

If it is then followed by allowing inbound individual tourists without the need of a tourist agency.

As pessimistic as I am, at this point I’ll take any small step towards reopening!

I’m already looking to book after three cancellations for the fourth time for August/September 2023 to Japan!

May the reopening of Japan travel gods look favorably upon all us foreign tourists!!!

  5. Good to watch this Nathan, I also got the feeling a lot of Japanese want us to visit them, our enthusiasm is a wonderful thing especially that's why they put you on TV with your bandana and the comments from Japanese in their YT video was positive like why do we have to be like this

  6. seriously, I don't need a tour agency, I have distant family in Japan that I'm close with that can help if anything happens. Plus , I'm staying at their place every time I visit Japan. Japan should learn to trust foreigners. The government in Singapore just removed mask rule except for certain places, and majority of the ppl are still wearing mask because we want to protect ourselves and our families. I believe foreigners would do the same when they travel to Japan, especially now that Japan has such high covid cases. We wouldn't want to take the risk of our holiday to be ruined. Japan is sooo behind, Singapore already stopped temperature a year ago. The first signs of the current covid variant is dry throat/sore throat.

  7. It seems it's happened!
Kishida said that Japan will allow independent tourists to enter starting from September!!!

  8. Hi Nathan, I am from Brisbane Australia. I have booked my flights and hotels leaving Gold Coast on the 23rd Oct. After reading the news about the 7 sep opening with the non-guided package tour, I contacted one of the registered travel agent and ask if they can provide the service of organising visa only and sponsorship. They said NO, so basically travel agent want us to buy their package tour. So this is not going to work for someone like me who likes doing my own things. Do you know any travel agent who is willing just to provide sponsorship and organising visa only? I hope they allow independent travellers by early October.
