▼About Yoshida Fire Festival
The annual Chinka Taisai, held on August 26 and 27th, is called the Yoshida Fire Festival and is an autumn festival held by Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine and Suwa Shrine.
In the afternoon of the 26th, the main shrine festival and the Suwa-jinja shrine festival are held, and the large mikoshi (portable shrine) and goei (portrait) are offered to the shrine parishioners crowded with worshipers. When it was enshrined in the otabisho at the end of the year, more than 90 large Taimatsu torches tied up in the shape of bamboo shoots 3 meters high and the Taimatsu torches piled up in the riga of each house were lit at the same time, and the town turned into a sea of fire and the festival was crowded until midnight.
On the afternoon of the 27th, the two mikoshi passed through the shrine parishioners and returned to Sengen-jinja Shrine at dusk. The festival reaches its climax when the parishioners and worshippers carry ‘Susuki-no-tamagushi’ and follow the two portable shrines around Takamanohara. The 27th is also called ‘Susukimatsuri.’.
