【Dejima】
It is a small fan-shaped island that was reclaimed within Nagasaki Port in 1635 during the Edo period. Initially, Portuguese merchants were stationed here, but later the Dutch trading post was moved here and the island became a Dutch settlement. It was the only place for trade with Western Europe during the period of national isolation. Today, the island has been reclaimed and is part of the urban area.
