Day 1:
Japan welcomes you! ,
Experience the world’s tallest tower for a first-hand view of Tokyo. The Tokyo Skytree, offers 360-degree views of the city and Mount Fuji from its 2,080 feet (634 meters) observation deck. Afterward, visit Sensoji, the oldest and most historically significant temple in the city. Legend has it that two brothers fished a statue of the goddess Kannon out of the Sumida River. Also nearby is Asakusa Shrine, which highlights the differences between Shinto and Buddhist beliefs. Visit Shibuya Crossing as night falls to get a taste of Shibuya’s vibrant nightlife. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in the area, making it ideal for a night out.
Day 2:
You’ll head north today to Nikko, which is home to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Toshogu Shrine. Among Japan’s most picturesque shrines, the mausoleum of Japan’s last shogun is located here. Rinnoji, Nikko’s most famous temple, is a short walk south. Take a stroll around the grounds to see the charming Japanese garden and the shrine that houses Nikko’s three mountain gods.
Spend the afternoon at Edo Wonderland, a cultural theme park where you’ll be transported back to the 15th century. Get your hands dirty with Hariko doll painting or makeup artistry, or attend a traditional magic show. Moreover, you can learn how to fight with a sword like a samurai. When you’re ready to return to the 21st century, you’ll head back to your accommodation in Tokyo for the evening.
Day 3
Days three, , , take you north to the mountains, where you’ll spend two nights in Matsumoto, a charming city. Matsumoto is best known for its historic castle, which is set in a lush valley surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Japanese Alps. Take a leisurely stroll around the 17th-century architectural marvel and don’t forget to take a photo on its iconic bridge. Foodies should visit Matsumoto’s surrounding farmland, where they can learn how wasabi is made, go blueberry picking, or make soba noodles from scratch. Finish the evening with dinner in the city’s vibrant Nakamichi district for a taste of local cuisine.
