Use Bing Translate. Gives you the option between Brazilian and continental Portuguese.
And about Porto? Porto is quality, Lisbon is quantity. Prosit!
Excellent video! I’ll also be moving to Lisbon in a year or so. So I’d love to connect with various meetup groups.
Great interview, thank you!
Awesome video!
I'm trying to get some clarity on my situation if anyone knows. I have dual citizenship (US and Italian) and I plan to move to Portugal with my family. My wife doesn't currently have Italian citizenship but she will get it eventually. When we make the move will she need to apply individually for residency through a D7 visa even though her husband and daughter have an EU passport?
Another great video. Very informative. I’m so happy my city is finally being given the appreciation it deserves. ☺️
You can’t do anything in a week for the D7 now. Especially if you are retiring.
Great interview, Kalie!
Great interview! You folks continue knocking it out of the park! 🙂
Great Lisbon tips from Kathy re: PT language courses, healthcare and livable Lisbon neighborhoods. A couple more for my list of options. Many thanks also to Kalie for keeping an eye out for those Lisbon neighborhoods without aircraft noise. ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ Anti-aircraft noise folks in Lisbon..unite! 😁 Cheers. 👋🏻 —maurice (aka ‘someone’) 😁
Most bureaucratic country .
Immigration procedure is harrassing
thank you aweseome
Good interview. Thanks Kalie😍😍😯
Rebecca is gorgeous, smart & chatty, what a woman 🤤
Rebecca is from my hometown #513. I’m a PR of 🇨🇦 and I’m coming to visit Lisbon in November!
Such a great video with great information. I really enjoyed hearing about Becky’s work experience, especially since I’m in a similar field…editing, publishing, content creation. It’s also always wonder to hear about all the different experiences expats have.
She doesn't have any Portuguese friends in Portugal *clearly*….she has met a few English-speaking Portuguese people at "meet ups" for digital nomads FFS… and she's learning the language via "an app" of Brazilian Portuguese??…while living in Portugal ….and proud she finished "all the levels"… gimme a break. God, the Portuguese locals must be sooooo fed up with these clueless nomadic computer geeks taking over, showing up just to suck from the teet of their society (ok "Tokyo" girl with permanent Japanese residency – why you in PT again??). Driving up prices for locals and ruining their culture, ugh… go away
Always such helpful and informative videos🙌 thank you 🙏
Great video, very informative. Really liked your guest!
thank you.
Digital nomads are grasshoppers. Not good to the land where they land.
I've spent the last year looking at different cities in Portugal to live and Lisbon really has been a wonderful experience. There is a great noise map of Lisbon that everyone should checkout before selecting an apartment.
Try margem sul
Portugal is not only LISBON
Nope, not worth it at all, unless you're a fancy American white cutie whatever girl like these women, then anywhere is good for you, you'll get nice treatment and won't have to work as a slave, like people from poor countries do in Europe.
Just curious if you checked Hospital da Luz prior to choosing it, saw many dissatisfied reviews from what I’m assuming are Portuguese nationals.
Portugal is doomed.
😊👍
Not Japan 🙃🙃🙃
Over working people. 😱
This is awesome! Poignant questions, Kalie!! So helpful. Content rich as always. Great interview! 👍🏾
Great video! Kalie are you wearing an Oura ring ? 😁
I found Lisbon to be quite expensive considering Portugal is a poor country. Price/value weren’t there for me.
I have to clarify something about when a portuguese says they dont speak english yet do.
The thing is, most of us UNDERSTAND english quite well, in wrtten and spoken form. Where most of us struggle is with spoken english, and not so much on what to say, our english vocabulary can be pretty good, but the pronounciation. And many feel embaraced in speaking broken english. And again this broken english is not so much lack of lexicon but a somewhat difficulty to pronounce english since there are a lot of english phonems that dont exist in portuguese and vice-versa.
Basically, most portuguese are conversational in english but fewer are fluent. But we tend to understand english very well.
The best place for Entrepreneurs continues to be the USA not Europe, and definitely not Portugal. I love Portugal but the culture really lacks grit, aspiration, drive, etc…it's not very motivating. It's too laid back and folks are stuck in tradition and bureaucracy…
Pandemic is still going on. Isn't it?
Excellent interview Kalie. You are SUCH a great listener, and you respectfully allow your guest to give a complete response. Most people interrupt. (I know I probably would because another question pops in my head). Becky is lovely… really appreciate her experience and points of view. She has excellent advice about telling people what you do. That's something that is really hard for a lot of people… even some Americans. I love that she speaks with her hands… I do it all the time.
Loved the informative video… do u have one on D7 v GV? Also, retiring in Portugal with US Social Security?
Insurances here in 🇵🇹 will make you wait for 60 days, however, if you have an emergency and you need immediate urgent care, the insurance will cover the care based on the policy coverage.
Great video this was very helpful and informative. Hopefully i can get a job in Portugal because finding a US remote job is challenging.
It takes three weeks to get it. She is either incredibly efficient or incredibly organized and knowledgeable. It takes 4 months.
This interview was awesome. I learned so much.
Thanks!
Excellent Interview
I live in portugal also
I live in Portugal and In simple economic conditions in Portugal you get 700 euro a month and ready to pay rent 300 to 400Euro in private space and then rest of money you enjoy it 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
I've lived in a rural area all my life. I've been to Lisbon twice, as well as most of the rest of Portugal, and if I had to live in a city it would absolutely be Lisbon. I think it's maybe because there are many people working there who are from rural villages, I don't know, but it sure does not have a huge city vibe, it's very comfortable and down to earth.
Could you post a link to the government Portuguese language lessons that give the language certificate?
