I tried eating fugu for the first time while in Japan!
I was on a mission to eat as much food as humanly possible while in Japan – and there wasn’t a day I didn’t stuff my face full with sushi. But although I could have lived like and been in heaven, there were a few meals I just had to try out.
One of them being fugu. I’ve wanted to try fugu for a while (which was probably sparked by hours of binge-watching fugu videos). So, I knew a little bit about the experience, the dangers and the side-effects. The fact that only licensed chefs are allowed to prepare and sell fugu sealed the deal. To become licensed, prospective fugu chefs have to complete a 2 or 3 year apprenticeship and then pass written and practical exams. Only ~35% pass.
I ordered a set menu to get the full fugu experience.
I’m not a food vloger or food critique – just wanted to capture the experience:)
