ALIʻI KULA LAVENDER FARM MAUI
LAVENDER FARM, GARDEN, RANCH IN KULA, MAUI
The Aliʻi Kula Lavender Farm was started in 2002 by Aliʻi Chang, who converted an old protea farm and then expanded it continuously. Each year there is a larger variety of kinds of lavender (now 45 types), flowers and other beautiful plants, tours, and lavender products (shirts, sachets, skincare creams and oils, scones). Aliʻi died in 2011, but his co-workers continue the farm in his tradition.
VISITING THE LAVENDER FARM IN UPCOUNTRY MAUI
The Lavender Farm is open every day and admission is $3. Paid tours, luncheons, and products are available in the gift shop. It’s all located at 1100 Waipoli Road in Kula, a small town in Upcountry, at the 4000-foot elevation on the western slope of Haleakala volcano (East Maui). The farm and gardens occupy 13 acres. The drive to get there takes a little over an hour from Kaʻanapali (West Maui) and a little under an hour from Kihei (South Maui). Here’s a map you can zoom in on to help you find it.
From the Lavender Farm, the views of Maui’s central valley are spectacular. You can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on the hillside or at a picnic table or in the gazebo. Be sure to buy one of their delicious lavender scones for dessert (available in the gift shop). For more info call 808-878-3004.
