  1. I am very happy for those business who depend on the tourist industry. 😃

  2. Due to the fact that entry requirements for Japan can vary depending on your country of origin, we have always recommended confirming entry requirements with the Japanese consulate or embassy in your own country before buying tickets. Even more so with covid happening.

  3. The government wants you to use a travel agent to give money to their donors. There is no independent tourism. It is just a big scam now. You can only come if invited or are willing to shell out lots of extra money to have a tour agency book your itinerary which you must follow. Plus it is from September 7th when the covid restrictions are lifted. Frankly I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come while those companies are required to make your trip possible as it is just insulting. Japanese people can go abroad but we need to be told where to go.

The only reason the rules have changed is that lots of Japanese people have gone abroad but found the PCR requirements upon return a hassle. So they changed the rules.

  4. I'll wait till they get the details figured out before celebrating but at least it's a move in the right direction.

  5. I dare not hope, though hope to be wrong, and yearn to visit within half a year or so~

  6. Not sure it's completely good news. Rumor has it that Kishida is doing this to allow Japanese travel agents to get a slice of the early tourism pie. If this is the case, and we have to get a Japanese travel agent involved it's going to bottleneck the process hugely, and also inflate the costs pretty substantially compared to just booking flights and accommodation yourself. Wait and see for the official announcement I guess.

  7. Well, I don't require a visa to visit Japan…when I have saved more money will visit…it's on my bucket list…

  8. looks at vid title

Yup. Until the numbah goes up…any amount. Then it's "ooh, diseased foreigners destroying our beautiful country BAN BAN BAN SHUTDOWN LOCKDOWN NO FOREIGNERS GO HOME GAIJIN" for days.

  9. I had a trip planned out in spring of 2020, then airline cancelled.

I won't go now, especially since they are still stuck in mask sanitiser and vaccine ideology where they need to check credentials.

  10. I believe it when I see it. When you have to book your trip through a travel agency that still sucks because its more expensive.

  11. Though skeptical i hope this comes to fruition, been working with the JGSDF in the Australian Army for a few years and would love to visit some friends in japan, fingers crossed!

  12. From what I've seen you need a travel agent and they have to manage your itinerary. I do wonder if it has to be an approved agent or you can just use an online travel agent where no human is involved. It looks like its for accountability/tracking, so no idea if it will work if you just book flights + a hotel for a few days through a random agent and then a JR pass and everything else separately. I'm waiting until early next year, when hopefully its all laid out and clear.

  13. I'm not putting any masks. I'm not paying any travel agents money for nothing.
But it's half good news this info. So thanks.

  14. If true and considering the large increase in Covid cases, this all smells like an act of desperation. Because Japan normally doesn’t move at lightening speed, a turtle walking up a hill would move faster than policymakers in Japan.

  15. I believe that visitors will need to show proof of three COVID-19 vaccination shots in order to avoid the PCR 72-hour COVID testing requirement.

  16. Flight Centre said nope, they can't book anything in Japan yet. I'm not game enough to book flights myself after what happened at the start of the pandemic (never got my refund).

  17. It's hilarious how you always find a nice shadow to hide yourself in every time you do these talking head videos.

  18. Where did the information come from? Consulate general of Japan in Melbourne knew nothing of this update. They insisted nothing has changed
