Sasagawa Nagare

Welcome to Niigata! When “the train emerged from the long tunnel under the mountains” it was in “the snow country…” but only in the winter. During the summer Niigata has some of the greatest beaches on the Sea of Japan and the best beaches of all are found on the Sasagawa Nagare in the coastal mountains in the far north of the prefecture. Coarse white sand beaches, sea stacks, sea arches, sea cliffs and sea caves await. As does clear (up to 10 meters on a calm day) blue water. Thinking of Niigata? Think of the beach!
