Japan has some beautiful hiking spots! Mt. Hiei (Hiezan) rises 848m from the surrounding Kyoto area. It has central Kyoto on one side, Lake Biwa on the other, and is accessible by bus, cable car, ropeway, car… and by foot! The world heritage site of Enryakuji Temple is also located near the summit, and you can find out more details about the mountain, the temple, and how to get there on their website: https://www.hieizan.gr.jp/en/hieizan/
I recorded the hike on Strava, so you can see this link if you want to view the actual route and mileage data from this day: https://www.strava.com/activities/7647376968
