YOKOTE SNOW FESTIVAL
This unique Tohoku region festival has been held for hundreds of years, and takes place every February. Located in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, here you’ll find yourself surrounded by kamakura, a hollow carved out from a mound of snow. Kamakura sizes range from small candle-lit lantern-sized ones, through to ones large enough for a small group of people to stand in.
