The Izu Peninsula is popular for its hot spring, beautiful coastlines, beaches, mild climate and scenic mountains. It’s located about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo and a popular weekend gateway and the area is well connected to Tokyo by train. The main spots of Eastern Izu peninsula is JOGASAKI coast, Mount Omuro, Shirahama beach and Shimoda.
JOGASAKI coast:- It is a beautiful section of coastline along the Izu peninsula’s eastern coast. It is located in the Izu Kogen area, about 10 kilometers south of central Ito. An attractive hiking trail follows to coast offering beautiful views of the jagged cliffs and stone formation.
Mount Omuro:- It is an extinct volcano near the eastern coast of the Izu peninsula, south of central Ito city. It is shaped like an inverted rice bowl. Height of Mount Omuro is 580 meters which takes 15-20 minutes to circle on foot. The top of mountain offers view of Mount Fuji and Oshima Island when visibility is good.
