Ramen is one of the most popular dishes in Japanese cuisine. There are many different types of ramen in Japan but my personal favorite is Hakata or tonkotsu ramen. It’s a rich and milky ramen from Fukuoka that’s made by boiling pork bones for several hours. It’s so creamy and delicious!

Being the birthplace of Hakata ramen, Fukuoka is the best place to have it in Japan. We asked our local Japanese friends for recommendations on the best ramen shops in Fukuoka and these 5 places are where they told us to go.
