Check out part 1 of our Osaka Christmas foodie tour:
Japan Van Life Ch 38 (pt 2): Osaka street food cultured.
Today we’re continuing our Christmas In Japan with a quest to eat the best street food in Osaka (AKA the tastiest city in Japan)!
In part one of our Christmas in Japan vlog we ate the biggest fried chicken we could find, but our hunger hasn’t been satisfied yet, so we’re continuing part 2 with more foodie adventures!
We’re giving you a guided food tour of Osaka to the famous America Mura (アメリカ村, America Village) in the trendy Shinsaibashi area, a short walk away from Namba with its bright billboards and the iconic Glico man and moving crab, then we’re stopping off for what might be the weirdest food combination of the day – champagne and gyoza (the perfect pairing for a Japanese Christmas!) – before finishing our day at the lesser known Tanimachi 6-chome (谷町六丁目) area to review its British food at Torrington’s Tea Room.
Maybe you can see from our reactions that Osaka is home to some of the best food and top restaurants in Japan and why it is a famous must-visit spot for Japanese food lovers!

📍 LOCATIONS:
1. Donaiya takoyaki, Shinsaibashi America Mura store (元祖どないや 心斎橋アメリカ村店)
https://www.donaiya.jp/
https://www.donaiya.jp/shop/amemura.html
Not far from Osaka’s famous Dotonbori food street and the bright lights and moving billboards of Minami (Namba), you’ll find Shinsaibashi; a street food heaven in the heart of Japan’s kitchen. Shinsaibashi is home to Amemura (AKA America Village), a trendy area full of vintage clothing shops, the coolest fashion and the small, but popular Sankaku Park (Triangle Park). There you’ll also find Donaiya’s revolving takoyaki – a must-eat if you’re visiting Osaka!
2. Dotonbori Glico running man, Namba
https://www.glico.com/jp/health/contents/glicosign/
No Osaka food tour would be complete without seeing the larger than life food displays in Dotonbori, Osaka’s most popular restaurant district, or its famous landmark, the Glico man!
3. Champagne & Gyoza Bar Stand Shan Shoku Tokyo Awa Gyoza, Umeda(シャンパン&ギョウザ バー スタンドシャン食)
https://champagne-shokudo.com/
Champagne shokudo’s mission is to make drinking champagne a casual event, which is why the strange but delicious combination of champagne and gyoza (pot stickers) was born! The champagne restaurant group’s purpose is to “enjoy champagne more easily” and their branch in Uneda in downtown Osaka certainly saved us the cost of buying a whole bottle! As well as a standing gyoza bar, the group also runs a champagne bistro and champagne & French bar cafeteria if you’re in the mood for something a little more upmarket.
4. Torrington Tea Room (トリントンティールーム)
https://www.torrington-tearoom.com/
Hidden in a seemingly residential area of Osaka, Torrington’s Tea Room is a cosy British-style café offering a taste of the UK with afternoon teas, scones, crumpets, and eggs Benedict. They also offer takeaway items and sell teas, jams, and other authentically English goods imported all the way from the UK!

混み合っていない店を探すと、美味い料理は食べられない、この鉄則を超越して、美味い食事にありつけたなら素晴らしい事。どんだけ大阪は美味しいものが多いのでしょう。
I think this is the first video about Osaka that approached all the famous landmarks from this direction. I was surprised to see those sites suddenly pop-up, and without the all the glowing light normally associated with those signs.
一万人サポートおめでとう!😷🤗㊗️👏👏👏👏👏
Another video!!! 💜 So much delicious food
動画観てたら大阪に帰りたくなりました。
訳あって東北の雪深い街に住んでますが、やっぱ故郷は良いですね!
コロナ禍でなかなか帰省できないのが残念です。
Does Japan celebrate Valentine’s Day? With candy and special activities?
