Super Typhoon Maria currently has maximum sustained winds of 100 knots with gusts up to 140 knots. I just want to thank you all for watching, and I will be maybe live tomorrow to answers question if our power stays on. However, despite some minor fluctuations in the forecast track, it now looks quite definite that Maria will strike Taiwan and only sideswipe Okinawa. The southern tip of the island of Okinawa sits right on the red-line area though, which is the zone in which winds of 50 knots or greater are expected. That’s why Okinawa is still going through the TCCOR stages, and if the forecast holds true you’ll probably still manage to get into TCCOR-1E tomorrow. Here’s an estimate of how Tuesday may go:
— 0300: Sustained winds reach 35 knots, TCCOR-1C
— 0900: Sustained winds reach 50 knots, TCCOR-1E
— 1400: Sustained winds diminish below 50 knots, TCCOR-1R
Of course, those are all just estimates based on the latest forecast. When you’ll actually go into the different TCCORs depends entirely upon what the winds actually do and when the 18th Wing Commander makes the call for each TCCOR change. Peak winds on Okinawa are forecast to only reach about 58 mph sustained with gusts of up to around 69 mph, and by midnight tomorrow the winds should be rapidly diminishing below 40 mph. 10W SUPER TYPHOON MARIA (Category 4) currently located approximately 349 statute miles Southeast of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa.
Super Typhoon Maria currently PROJECTED TO TRACK 172 MILES SOUTH OF KADENA AIR BASE, OKINAWA on/about NOON on 10JULY2018, TUESDAY
As 10W passes south of Okinawa, JTWC Projects sustained winds of 132MPH with gusts over 161MPH near the storm’s center.
Super Typhoon Maria projected to continue tracking West-Northwest towards Ishigaki and Miyako Islands and just north of Taipei, Taiwan.
Expect TC-1 to be declared at/about 2100JST today.
10W Super Typhoon Maria still has time to develop, change course, and change travel speed.
Please Be Safe.

I swear we must have installed a Typhoon Defense System about 3 years ago when I arrived on Island. Since then it seems every one of them shoots just to every other side of Okinawa.

A city in Central México just flooded like never before. We are definetly in a new era I hope. Humans just don't learn.

Another one forming South Of Guam.. heading towards that direction again.. West NorthWest
Do not Remove Shutters another one on the way ..😪
I was in Taipei and thanks to the mountains toward the north blocking; the winds didn't pick up until the wind direction switched to west. It wasn't too bad, several trees are down but no major damage. Sustained winds were gale force and the gusts were around 60 mph. I will be posting the video sometime today
