I’ve been in Sasebo for over a year now and haven’t done probably THE MOST popular tourist activity there is to do here—go on the 99 islands cruise!

This cruise was off limits to us for a long time, then winter hit and trust me that definitely isn’t the best time to sightsee in Sasebo. We finally had a beautifully warm and sunny day and decided to give it a go! It was only $15/person and about an hour long. Definitely worth it for the cost and you’ll see some of the most beautiful parts of Sasebo! Sasebo might be small and just a little blip on Japan’s map (and definitely not a tourist hot spot) but we’re home to some of the most BEAUTIFUL scenery rural/costal Japan has to offer. If you’re feeling down and out and need a pick me up or reminder why Sasebo is so great then grab a ticket and take this cruise. You won’t regret it. I only wish I could take my friends and family on it, but I don’t think they’ll be able to visit me here in Japan anytime soon.

While you’re there don’t forget to hit up Costas for a delicious and affordable meal. If you’re on a budget then pairing the cruise with this restaurant is the perfect cheap day trip idea. Honestly this would be a great afternoon date as well. Right now the last cruise is a 3pm, but once we roll into summer there are romantic sunset cruises and you know I’ll definitely be going on one of those!

If you’re visiting or new to Sasebo then I’m sure you’ve already spent some time at the Ginza. A Ginza in Japan is just the city’s main shopping area. Definitely NOT like Ginza, Tokyo haha which is known for its expensive and trendy stores. The Ginza in Sasebo is a little sad, but if you’re on the hunt for something then you’ll likely find it there. They also some American eateries like Dominos, Starbucks, and not American but mister donut (DROOL) among other great resultants and shops. This is really the heart of the city and fun to explore if you’re looking to get out of the house and just stroll around. They have multiple bubble tea shops, but I’ve only tried Hefkcha and it was absolutely delicious!

  1. Was that a drone you used in some of your footage? I wanna take my drone there but I’m not sure if it’s allowed.
