On a perfect sunny day in autumn 2021, I went on very nice hiking to Mt. Buna (Buna-ga-take) near Kyoto.

Mt. Buna is one of the highest peaks around Kyoto.
It was a bit challenging route I took but turned out really rewarding experience!

Important
You can only do this hiking on weekends as the bus to Bomura Village is available only on Saturday, Sunday (and Holidays).
Also, there is only one bus service, so if you miss it, game over…!

And this is a bit challenging course. I don’t recommend hiking alone. You should go with someone who knows this mountain well. Deadly accidents happen every year, so please be careful!

Schedule:
8:00 Kyoto Station — Train
8:30 Katata Station — Bus
9:30 Bomura Bus Stop — Hiking starts!
10:30 Goten-yama Peak
12:00 Mt. Buna Summit
14:00 Yakumo-ga-hara Wetland
16:00 Intani-guchi Bus Stop — Bus
16:15 Hira Station — Train back to Kyoto Station

  1. Kenzo san, nice shooting, I like it. Very informative! You hiked while reporting, you sound very familiar with this mountain! How many times did you hike this area so far? Thanks!
