Even within Russia, flying on Russian-made aircraft is getting more and more difficult. Izhavia is one of the last airline to still use these Yakolevs on domestic flights. An amazing experience indeed! (Even though the engine sound was disappointing.)

  1. Many carrers like boeing, Airbus, etc, thinks passengers want quietness but the truth we want is a really loud sonic bang engine

  2. Felix, thank you for that beautiful Yak-42D sound.
Yes, I´m becoming addicted to Simply Aviation and its unique style of flight reports 😀

  3. Yak 42 is a Russian airplane built for Russia. One of there better designs for sure. No thrust reversers. Those would have helped it’s performance.

  4. Istrebitel kerosina v2.0! Look at those flaps… they make up almost half the wing chord!

  5. They used to give candies before takeoff. That was nice. Although, prices for such a small flight were not so good. Also, Izhavia has now B737s, so Yak days are almost gone.

  6. hi, I used to fly on YAK 40 a lot of years ago, do you know any chance to fly YAK today thx

  7. Brave man! One of the our aircraft mechanic told, that Yaks 40-41 were very badly done aircrafts. Surface of wings and fuselage was crooked, reveting was terrible. Also safety results were not good – too many incidents. They called its "sazomet", that is mean soot spreader 😀 Maybe Yak 42 is better.

  8. 8:46 anybody can tell me what is the name of that plane with one engine because I have never seen a plane with one engine 🙃👍FUEL EFFICIENT

  9. Cool video! Noticed on your video and others of the yak42 and it sounds like at least one engine is completely shut down on touchdown!

  10. well short before recent events russian aircraft business did get more profitable than it was in the last decades….for the russian made aircrafts comfort was certainly very often more important than the loadfactor…..;) very nice videos also the recent ones!! lg
