２０１３年に世界遺産に登録。
標高3776.12 mで、日本一高い山。
現時点では噴火の可能性は、極めて低いが活火山である。

基本的には、 7月 1日〜 9月10日の期間
※年によって変更の可能性あり。
※冬季は、届け出等が必要で一般人は入山できない。

■登山時間/climbing time
吉田ルートの場合、登り約6時間 下り約4時間。
