Yasaka Shrine
It serves as the main shrine for the Gion Festival, one of Japan’s three most important festivals, and is the window headquarters of all Gion shrines in Japan. It is located in the north of Gion-cho, Higashi-ku, Kyoto, and is relatively easy to access. Maruyama Park on the same site offers magnificent views during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons, and is lined with prestigious restaurants in the area. The nearby Gion area retains a Japanese flavor and is home to numerous Japanese restaurants. It is also a famous tourist destination in Kyoto where you can see maiko.
